That was my thought too.
The other thought I had (and there's no way this will happen, 'cause it would be impossible to explain on TV) is that it'd be cool if Ben's consciousness ended up in L'il Ben's body. So one of the reasons Ben is such an incredible manipulator is because from his point of view,
he's done it before. So there'd be like a P shaped time loop.
L'il Ben is shot-Big Ben's goes back in time from the O6 return flight and ends up in L'il Ben's body. He grows up, trying to change his fate--to no avail. Eventually he returns with the O6 knowing that the only way he can avoid having his existance erased is to go back in time (again) to L'il Ben's body.
It's a creepy scenario--Groundhog Day spread over 25 years.
