Dexter - Season 4 Premieres on Sept 27

So everyone's favorite serial killer is back on September 27th. Who else will be tuning in?

I love Dexter, but our free year of Showtime is over and I'm economizing, so I won't subscribe. I'll probably even drop HBO after tonight's True Blood finale.

But I'll be reading the threads, and hoping that the writers haven't run out of ideas.

I may drop HBO, too - I'll watch True Blood tonight, but after that, not much on I'm interested in. Though I've been rewatching 'The Sopranos' with UncleBeer, so maybe not....

I just recently finished Season 3 on DVD, so I'm looking forward to watching Season 4 in a year or so, when I can Netflix it.

Yeah, I'm with SmartAleq - it leaked online about a month ago. Pretty good, but we all know that Dexter doesn't really get moving until later in the season.

I just remembered that John Lithgow is the Big Bad this season. Guess I'll dump HBO and pick up Showtime. To hell with the budget! I'll economize somewhere else.

As long as he's not Dexter's long-last grampa.

Saw it weeks ago. Drinking game - do a shot everytime you see the Apple logo or hear the word "iPod" in that episode. You will probably die.

I'll be watching, but I have to admit that I'm not really looking forward to it as I have in other seasons. Another serial killer? Whatever. Serial killer are RARE yet there's always one in Miami.

Also, I HATE RITA! I want her DEAD! I'm such a sick bitch that I want Dexter to have to kill her and (since I'm sure they won't have the balls to kill the kids too) have Rita's mother take the kids away.

She's a beautiful woman, but her character is soooo annoying and her breathy "Dexxxter" makes me homicidal.

I keep waiting for her game face to show up and have her get all fangy on Dexter's neck. Series conflation can be a bitch sometimes!

I coulda gone without the naked Lithgow ass in this episode, BTW. His ass looks like what I'd imagine Hank Hill's ass looks like...

Just made him that much scarier--being that willing to get into a role and with as good and scary an actor as Lithgow can be, just bodes well for the rest of the season. Lithgow ain't chump change, this has a LOT of potential!

For those who care, there's a new DVD rip of episode 1 out there (plus the first two episodes of Californication).

Same here. Even if I had Showtime, I'm spoiled on the DVDs.

I liked it. Dexter being off his game is what the show needed. Of course he won't be caught, but it'll be interesting to see how he covers his mistakes.

The one thing I've had a problem with is Dexter's kill sites. An abandoned gym (with working electricity) is just the kind of place squatters would find. I get that his elaborate preparation means there will be no clues, but it takes way too much time. Just kill the guy and dump him where the gators can get him!

Yeah, that kind of bugs me, too. If we learned anything from the film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, it's that changing your method of killing people is the most important way of not getting caught. They're now hunting John Lithgow precisely because he kills women exactly the same way... you'd think Dexter would shake it up from time to time, killing one guy with a rifle shot, another with a handgun to the head, another with a stabbing, etc. Killing someone and making sure that all traces of the body are gone seems risky, as the previews for next week's episode have shown.

This season has been really good. I've enjoyed it. Jennifer Carpenter's character (Debra) has really grown quite a bit. I like what they've done with her.

Tonight's episode was...okay, it was a little telegraphed, but it was STILL good.

LaGuerta and Angel getting married I did not see. For some reason, it makes me grin like a fool, though. I like Angel's character a lot; I hope LaGuerta doesn't make him miserable.

Dexter hitting his next door neighbor was exactly what Rita needed him to do, and I think he knew it.

John Lithgow was creepy beyond belief in this ep. The end had me biting my nails. Next week's season finale promises to be excellent.

The opening credits are so good! Dexter has that "naughty boy" look on his face after he pulls the tee-shirt over his head. I saw it a few times before I realized I was looking at a metaphor for his kills, the cutting, tying, wrapping.

But he fixes breakfast all wrong. You make the coffee and squeeze the juice first.

O Tiny Baby Jesus my wish is true! MY WISH IS TRUE!!!!

RITA IS DEAD!

Ever since I started watching this show I've wanted that ONE SINGLE THING and now it's true. OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD and all of that.

John Lithgow was *amazing* in this season. I mean, wow.

OMFG that ending just ROCKED. And yeah, Sleeps, I agree. It's what needed to happen for the show because let's face it....

Rita was played out. There was nothing more they could do and nowhere they could go with her character. The writers are doing an excellent job and making the hard choice of getting rid of an important character.

The interview with Michael C Hall and Lithgow after (and as always, Lithgow was a consummate actor in this series) was good, but I'll need to watch it again as I was still in shock.

Yeah, I did NOT see that coming! This is gonna put one HELL of a cramp in Dexter's social life no matter how it falls out.

Because what's gonna happen with the older kids? They aren't Dexter's and both parents are dead--is there any other family to take them or is Dexter stuck with the whole fam damily?

Paul's parents could take them.

I really liked the ending. Things were just going too well for Dexter. I'm glad there were finally some repercussions for him.

porcupine, that's a good point, and something I hadn't thought of. Except for his inner turmoil and stress, there really haven't been any consequences for Dexter's actions. I kinda hope the cops do look at him, hard, for that murder.

Are we spoiler-boxing the stuff from the finale?

I wasn't thinking so much that he gets arrested for (this) murder, more that I was glad there will not be a happy ending for Dexter. They started the season with, effectively, a serial killer having it all - a good job, an ostensibly happy family, etc. Now it's all been yanked from under him.

There's probably more conflict if Dexter tries to hold on to them and it's Rita's mom (who hates Dexter and knows about his "drug addiction") trying to take them away.

Dexter star Michael C Hall diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma.

He's currently in remission. This came as a complete surprise. As did the revelation that he's married to the woman who plays his sister Debra on the show. In any case, I'm relieved to hear he's beating it (the cancer, not the wife).

You mean Jennifer Carpenter? Yeah, they got married on New Year's Eve 2008. It wasn't a secret or anything - it was all over the news, and was especially noteworthy because he married a woman who plays his sister. Sites like The Superficial ran tons of "ewww! He married his sister!" stories.
