Gah!
Is the poll actually about the original Orczy character? I thought this was all comic books and such.

No no. Comics are not specified. The nomination was for the original. We were encouraged to get creative with our definition of Superhero.

Final round of polls is over. We've got 467 entries if we go with 3s and above or 534 is we go with 2s and above*. Will need to work out if I can do something to wind up with an even number of polls, or if I will have to do some 3fer matchups or byes.

If I seed people based on how many votes they got, is the proper setup to pair up highest with lowest and then work inward, or what?

*Apparently Blink ended up in there twice, and got 4 votes and 2 votes.

Do 2s and above. Better to have just a little over an even number. Do a mini round flash where all the 2 votes go head to head and only the top (however many makes 512 total, 22?) move forward. Only give it like 48 hours.

You would probably need a tie breaker. But I'm sure there is a good idea out there for that.

45 (out of 67), which is why that wasn't my first thought; it seems like a lot. But, what the heck, more polls are good.

Tiebreaker contest for the Round 1 matchups that just ended. First person that can ID this hero and also name his villain gets to break the ties (send responses by PM):

I really wish you wouldn't have so many "live" threads at once.

I logged in to work on this megapoll and found four pages of threads with new postings, most of them entirely new to me. I have spent the last five hours trying to catch up and I still have a page to go. I just ran into a thread that said some threads were about to expire so I went to this sticky to type this, but I may have missed the ties on as many as 13 matchups on which I was awaiting discussion.

I am sorry if this sounded mean, I think you are doing a great job.

Yes, he did.

So:
The Dash vs Brother Voodoo
Huntress (Helena Wayne) vs Sheens
Sailor Moon vs Blink

Too many possibilities for me to figure out who The Dash is. I'll give it till 12 my time for someone to give me a compelling reason to vote for him, and then it's going to Brother Voodoo.

I wasn't trying to answer the question; I was explaining why I was so far behind and why I might have contributed to the ties.

It turns out that none of the ties were matchups I was missing. Also, if I had gotten to those matchups, I would have created a few more ties. So, no damage done by my missing.

When I logged on to catch up, I should have found the old matchups before I read the new stuff. The new threads didn't expire. My bad. Right now I am sitting on only two matchups that I am aware of.

I used to play a lot of the superhero RPG Champions and I still buy new supplements from time to time. Darren Watts has a kickstarter (that ends in about 12 hours) called Golden Age Champions.

If you pledge at the $100 level, you'll not only get a hardcopy of Golden Age Champions but you'll get a hardcover of his Encyclopedia of Golden Age Superheroes which might be of interest to voters in this megapoll.

I'm going to start posting Round 2 polls sometimes this weekend, but they'll all have a longer voting time, so that people celebrating Thanksgiving can vote before or after the holiday, and everyone else can get together and conspire to rig the voting while we're off in food comas.

(I haven't worked out a complete schedule yet, but probably half will go up before Thursday and half after, but all will get the same length of voting time.)

Oh hai. It's me, Management, from the candy poll. I'm not voting in this one, because 1.) Wonder Wart-Hog's not in it, and 2.) I hate superheroes and the people who follow them.

But I do want to thank Kat for going to the considerable trouble of finding and posting pictures of the Round 2 combatants. I didn't know what most of these characters looked like, and the ones I did know mostly don't look right (that ain't Aquaman, serious). Reminds me that I'm missing nothing. So have fun, and look for me to return when you run a poll of something stimulating, like Inanimate Objects (rubber crutch tips or chalk?). By.

Rat Diva, did you take control of my mind?

Sorry that you hate me, Management. Incidentally, Wonder Warthog was in the poll. He just got voted out already. Perhaps if you had participated in the earlier rounds, he would have progressed further.

I nominated the Hog of Steel. But since he's hardly as telegenic as Spiderman or Underdog, of course he was voted off the island. (I could make some sort of analogy about jackbooted thugs, but I'll bide my time. For now.)

Who is this heroine, and who did she work with?

PM with the answers.

NAF solved the tiebreaker.

So he gets to decide:
Hellboy vs Duck Dodgers
The Lone Ranger vs Captain Britain

If Kat stops featuring animated characters the rest of you might stand a chance. I worked at an animation art gallery in high school and most of college. I know the guy who created that character.

And yeah, Hellboy and The Lone Ranger live to ride again!
