The Diablo thread still vaguely pisses me off. There was a crap-ton of good info in that thread and not only did Dex delete a ton of the OP's posts, apparently randomly as "punishment", but he scolded everyone for not somehow knowing that Madawc/Talic was a returning troll. Quoth Dex " If/when that jerk next tries to appear, I trust the rest of you will make him very uncomfortable... and the sure knowledge that whatever he posts will be deleted. " and there was an ATMB thread (researching it) where he really gets pissed that we posters didn't somehow just "know".

It's not the worst decision a mod ever made, but it's one of the most obnoxious mod notes ever.

They won't close it. They'll sell it cheap. There's a bunch of small firms that are buying old and abandoned message boards, keeping the unpaid moderators and administrators, standardizing their software, and making money from a simple banner ad on each page. One old message board might not make much money from Adsense banners, but several hundred will.

The fallout won't be from the SDMB closing its doors. It'll be from the switch to XenForo 2 (which is a vast improvement over vulletin 3/4/5. I'll admit), and severing the last connection to its Cecil Adams / Ed Zotti legacy.

In the pit thread backfire you linked to, she describes her daughter as "mentally retarded" but doesn't mention specifically what disorder she had. here

In a very good call, Loach mod noted Screw you, Shodan in Ronald Raygun's "Ask the trans woman" thread, which is an interesting read otherwise. I wondered who would be the first to crap on it and was pleasantly surprised it took so long:

Bone is pretty good. I haven't noticed any bad decisions from Asimovian.

As for ITD's replacement I vote for Huey Freeman. He'll put those inbred autistic thots in their place! And their handbag wives and imported children too!

I used to think that "SJW" and "TDS" were just stupid insults. Sadly, I was wrong. (My dad is seriously guilty of the latter. Oh god, I hate Trump, but when it comes to Trump, he's just like Grandpa Simpson, I swear)
