If you could look younger--would you?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/ar...-daughter.html
Interesting article. I showed it to my wife and daughter (and her friends). Interestingly my wife was able to pick the mother out (by her hands) whereas my daughter and her friends all chose the daughter as the older one! While I think both the mother and daughter look hot....I guess I just have an appreciation for an older woman who accepts her age and lives within the constraints of that age. For me I would rather look good for my age then look like I was 20 years younger. what say you all? |

If I could be younger, but still retain the wisdom of my years then I would. I promise to take much better care of myself this time.
Just looking younger, thru surgery. Not in a million years. |

Yes, I would.
ETA: Not like, plastic surgery and face lift younger. But I'm at that age where I'm losing whatever "it" I had, and it makes me very, very depressed. I just want to go back to when I didn't have grooves in my forehead and lines running between my nose and lips. Last edited by MissJeanLouise; 18th April 2009 at 02:07 PM. |

Right now, no. I'm a soon to be twenty-seven year old who easily passes for under eighteen, so looking even younger would be more of a headache than a blessing. If time takes its toll and I start looking older than I am, I'd work to combat it. Heck, I regularly use those anti aging cremes now. Prevention is the best cure.

Yes, with treatments to prove it.
Although, most of the treatments were to help me look better more than younger, IMHO. (OK, Botox was for wrinkles - and it does work). |

Alas, the new breasts weren't enough to save her marriage.
Ick. Yuck. Sad. Looking at those photos, it's difficult for me to even care about who's who. They both look pretty fake to me. Sure, I would like to not worry about my various health woes. But I don't want to wring my hands over my outward physical appearance. I too would rather look good for my age. I will not be doing botox or getting my face cut in any way, so I might never look as good as the lady in the photo, but that's okay with me. I've got my conscience to worry about, too. |

Caprese I agree with you in that I think they both look too 'made up' and fake.
My wife and I went out last night and ran into a couple we know, and she has stopped dyeing her hair. So it is coming in very salt and pepper. My wife complimented her on it and we had a good discussion about it. I think my friend looks good at age 50 WITH the salt and pepper hair. Her hair color before was not natural looking for her age and it was clear it was dyed. |

See that is exactly what my wife said! What is it with you 49 year old chicks? I would never even think to look at a woman's hands! My eyes...er...uh...well..they get diverted along the way and never make it down to her hands I suppose!

I'm 49. Back when we were kids, teenagers and young adults, sunscreen wasn't taken seriously the way it is today and many people have sun spots on their hands. It's one of the best indicators of age, no matter what the rest of the person looks like.

If I could look like I look right now forever, I probably would.
My only problem with aging is that I demand symmetry. My eyebrows must match, if I have a wrinkle on one side of my face, then there must be an wrinkle on the other side of my face to even it out. I have been dyeing my hair since I was a teenager and discovered a few grey hairs, and I will continue to do so until it all falls out because IT MUST ALL BE THE SAME COLOR. |

Aside from the fact that I look young enough now.. no. I would not.
I could pick out mum in that picture. Aside from the hands, there's the skin on her arms and more thickness all around. |

I'd probably look younger if I shaved off my beard, which has gotten rather gray over the last five years. But I don't have any pressing reason to look younger, so I don't bother.

Is it OK to ask a few questions about this? I see people described as "over Botoxed" a lot, but was wondering about the real experience of it. I know what you mean about looking better v, looking younger. I look angry or sad a lot of the time. Can you share your experience---how many times, immediate effects, long-term effects?

I know I drop 7-10 years when I go clean shaven, but I don't. I know that I'd stay looking younger if I quit smoking, but I haven't. I guess it's stopped mattering to me. Also, my SO is seven years older than me, and has said "Don't you dare, I don't want people thinking I'm your Mom."
They say a man in his 40s is at the maximum of his villainy, he has both experience and ability. (The one on the increase, the other on decline, meeting at an average maximum.) I embrace this philosophy. |

Heh. I turned 46 five days ago. Two hours ago I was carded when I bought a six-pack of Molson at Meijer, and the cashier was at least in her fifties and has been doing this for a while. Yeah, this is why they get my business.

I don't want to look younger, at least not yet. While I was teaching, I had parents who insisted to their students that I couldn't possibly be their teacher--I was obviously one of the students. When my parents visited town and took me out to eat, they asked me if I wanted a kid's menu (for ages 12 and under)--I was 22. I looked like I was in my teens pretty much up until I had my girl.
I'm still told I look younger than I am (I'm 36 now, BTW), but I'm not confused for a teen anymore. I like looking like an adult! |

I don't really care about looking younger. As a guy, the most important thing is being in good shape. If I keep up with what I've been doing for the last couple of years I will be in good shape, which will keep me looking about 10 years younger than I am. But even better, I'll probably be more athletic than people who are half my age. I'll take grey hair and wrinkles over being fat and weak.

I'm happy with the way that I look in terms of age. I look my age (33), but I don't look any younger. I'm more confident with myself at this age than any previously, and I just hope that this new confidence continues.

No, I'm 26 and look younger than that. I get carded at bars enough as it is.
Now, if I could BE back in my early 20s, I'd do that. (Shush, I'm in the midst of my very first age crisis.) |

Mortality doesn't bug me. It's the frumpiness and the boringness and the getting OLD that bugs me.

They both look fake. Spend all that money and forget to dye your roots !
I'll grow old disgracefully though thanks. I mean I wouldn't mind having my real teeth back. And going back before the spare tyre around my mid. But I'd happily look older to feel younger. Take away the osteoarthritis and give me a bald head, a ton of wrinkles, and loose flappy skin instead any day. |

Happy birthday! If you're anything like me you'll still get carded for tobacco into your late 30s. Enjoy it.

Y'all are 24 and 26 and mortality doesn't bug you. Hell, when I was your age, near death experiences didn't bug me. Give it time.

Thanks, man! Being carded really isn't so bad. At a certain point, it's a compliment! When I was in college, I had a job as a server at a casual chain restaurant. Whenever an older woman (well, one that obviously looked older than 21 at least) would order alcohol, I'd jokingly card her. It would garner great laughs and amusement, not to mention a fat tip to boot. The best was when a group of older women were having a "girls' night out." I carded all of them, and they loved me for it. I think I got a $40 tip out of it.

Yeah, I'd like the get rid of the gray hairs I'm starting to sprout. Not enough to go get "Just For Men" hair coloring though.

Tough choice for me. I think my face is a lot more attractive with some age on it, but I've also gained about 60 lbs. from what I weighed from about 15 to 28, and would like to lose the weight - so would I sacrifice some age lines to lose 60 pounds? Probably.

I wouldn't *mind* looking like I did at, say....35. But I'm not willing to have surgery to get back there.

I have male pattern baldness, some fake teeth and wrinkles (i'm this close to fifty).
I wouldnt change any of it though. I'm pretty comfortable in this skin. The only time I've spent the night in a hospital was when I was born. My wife says she loves me. Fake is fake. It's all good. |

I am in the process of looking more like my younger self, in that I'm losing weight. (Over 20 pounds so far!) I kind of like my wrinkles, but I guess I wouldn't mind having some hair back.
