What things can you not go budget on?

I think we did this about food, so no foodstuffs allowed. Other than that, what things do you possess for work or play that must be good quality?

I like good knives... pocketknife, multitool, kitchen knife, whatever, I find that a high quality blade pays dividends. Same goes for most of my tools, actually.

There's not much else that I'm really anal about, but I only owned a cheap knife once.
