Songs about being in a band

As I've had Life's Been Been Good by Joe Walsh stuck in my head all day, feel free to add other songs that are all about the life or being a singer or in a band. Bonus points obviously if the song is rocking or has memorable lyrics. e.g. My Maserati does 185/ I lost my licence, now I don't drive and indeed just one of my favourite lines in any song "I can't complain but sometimes I still do."

I'll let in songs that comment on specific incidents in the band' s history like Complete Control by The Clash but really this is all about the generality.

The song that comes immediately to mind for me is "I'm in the Band" by The Hellacopters from their album Rock & Roll is Dead.

It's not really about being in a band, but Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen has a line "I've been singing in my band, cross the water, cross the land".

Another one that comes to mind is Froggie by The Presidents of the USA.

Army by the Ben Folds Five:

...I dropped out and joined a band instead

Grew a moustache and a mullet
Got a job at chick-fil-a
Citing artistic differences
The band broke up in may
And in june reformed without me
And theyd got a different name
I nuked another grandma's apple pie
And hung my head in shame

Don't Start A Band - Reel Big Fish

Don't start a band
No body wants to hear nobody understands
Don't start a band
You will be so damn terrible they'll all think your shitty
Don't start a band
Oh yea yea yea
'cause you wont get paid
And you won't get laid

And even if you make it
All the way to MTV
I don't think you could take it
All the bullshit and the greed
Everyone is so fake when they shake you hand
And they kiss your ass 'cause then they get cash
And the business end will turn every friend
To an enemy oh you will see

We're not gonna make it
Oh, no!
We're not gonna make it

Cause there's a million better bands
with a million better songs

Singers who can sing

Don't Ask Me No Questions - Lynyrd Synyrd

Well it's true I love the money and I love my brand new car
I like drinkin' the best of whiskey and playing in a honky tonk bar
But when I come off the road, well I just got to have my time
'cause I got to find a break in this action, else I'm gonna lose my mind

"Have A Cigar" - Pink Floyd, as well as big chunks of The Wall.

"The Load-Out Stay" - Jackson Browne

"Talking Seattle Grunge Rock Blues" - Todd Snider
(chorus)
hey, hey, my, my
rock and roll will never die
hang your hair down in your eye
you'll make a million dollars

well i was in this band goin' nowhere fast
we sent out demos but everybody passed
so one day we finally took the plunge
moved out to seattle to play some grunge
washington state that is
space needle
eddie vedder
mudhoney

now to fit in fast we wear flannel shirts
we turn our amps up until it hurts
we've got bad attitudes and what's more
when we play we stare straight down at the floor
wowee

how pensive
how totally alternative

Wow, there are tons!
To add one more to my own OP, The Worst Band In The World by 10cc ("we've never done a day's work in our lives and our records sell in millions") from the album Sheet Music. Personal opnion is that 10cc used to be a really excellent band in this era before they lost their way. This song is also notable for being banned by the BBC for a word that wasn't actually said ("It's one thing to know it but another to admit/ we're the worst band in the world but we don't give a .....")

You're No Rock N' Roll Fun by Sleater-Kinney
You're no rock n' roll fun
like a party that's over
before it's begun...
Although the best man
won't hang out with the girl band!

Such Great Heights by, depending on how you look at it, either Iron and Wine or the Postal Service
When you are out there on the road for
Several weeks of shows and when you scan
The radio, I hope this song will guide you home

Not rock - but "outlaw" country:

On the Road Again - Willie Nelson

Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way? - Waylon Jennings

Lord it's the same old tune, fiddle and guitar
Where do we take it from here?
Rhinestone suits and new shiny cars
It's been the same way for years
We need a change

Somebody told me, when I came to Nashville
Son you finally got it made
Old Hank made it here, and we're all sure that you will
But I don't think Hank done it this a-way
I don't think Hank done it this a-way

Ten years on the road, makin' one night stands
Speedin' my young life away
Tell me one more time just so's I'll understand
Are your sure Hank done it this way?
Did ol' Hank really do it this a-way?

Lord I've seen the world, with a five piece band
Looking at the back side of me
Singing my songs, and one of his now and then
But I don't think Hank done em this a-way
I don't think Hank done it this a-way. Take it home.

"The Ballad of Hank Williams" by Hank Jr. and Don Helms

"Well, every song he made it went to number one,
Y'all was workin' like hell and you was havin' fun
We was ridin' every day and playin' every night
And every 20 minutes some of us had a fight
Now, Daddy he was makin' money hand over fist,
And y'all was getting' screwed but you wasn't getting kissed
Yeah, I told him to pass a little bit around
But he said he'd rather send it to his folks in Alabam'"

A favourite of mine is Joe's Garage by Frank Zappa from the rock opera of the same name. Always gets my foot tapping.

We could jam in Joe's Garage
His mama was screamin'
His dad was mad
We was playin' the same old song
In the afternoon 'n' sometimes we would
Play it all night long
It was all we knew, 'n' easy too
So we wouldn't get it wrong
All we did was bend the string like...
