What's Your Favorite Cereal?

Over the years, since being about 7 years old, one thing has been consistent.

And that is that I will tear up a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

I'm also partial to Frosted Mini Wheats, Honeycomb, and the occasional bowl of Frosted Flakes.

You?

ETA: Cheerios are vile.

My FAVORITE cereal is one I never eat because it's really, really bad for me: Cracklin' Oat Bran.

My favoriet cereal that I will actually eat is probably Quaker Oat Squares.

Anymore I'm all about the colon blow cereal with something kind of tasty on the top. My favorite combo is probably wheat chex with a bit of granola, though this has too much sugar for me as well.

I love cereal!!

I don't eat the sugary stuff anymore since I'm all organic and shit now.

My favorites are
Kashi Honey Sunshine (sort of like a healthy Captain Crunch)
Kashi Heart to Heart
Kashi Go Lean Crunch
Kashi Island Vanilla
(wow - I really like Kashi!).

I also love the Publix Greenwise Honey Nut Cheerios (these are a good snack since they are awesome right out of the box, not that I sit around with my hand in a box of cereal or anything).

One of my favorites (that I can't find anymore) is Clifford Crunch which is like an organic Alphabits. And Cocoa Bumpers which are like an organic version of Cocoa Puffs.

Would that Cinnamon Toast Crunch existed back when I was seven, young SharkB8. One of my favorites, too.

Anyone else believe that Wendell is a sociopath who killed off the other Cinnamon Toast Crunch bakers? But I digress.

I haven't been on much of a cereal kick lately. After a couple nanoseconds of thought I'm going to go with Peanut Butter Crunch FTW. If not FTW, then it's at least among my favorites.

Cinnamon Life. I will eat the entire box in one day. I've had to come to terms with that and not buy it anymore.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch is very good, especially when mixed with Golden Grahams. Right now I think my favorite is Wheat Chex, followed by Apple Jacks.

Yeah, WTF? There was like a lanky one with a rolling pin* or something? And another tubby one? Like we all wouldn't notice. Pshaw!

http://www.acceleratorinc.biz/archiv...oastcrunch.jpg

And Cinnamon Toast Crunch debuted in 1984...perhaps I'd eaten I recall eating it in the 80s...so maybe I was 6...

Apple Jacks white knuckled my addiction in the mid-90s.

My brother was notorious from the Golden Grahams Toast Crunch...anything that allowed him to eat his cereal and mine.

Speaking of my brother...anyone remember the commercials for old school Cap'n Crunch? When he was always fighting of "The Soggies?"

Well, disgusting brother would pour his bowl and milk, then go shower or whatever, allowing his Cap'n to get soggy (that sounds dirty) and then eat them...he sincerely enjoyed them that way

My absolute fave cereal of all time is porridge made just how my grandmother did with nothing more than plain oats, water and a pinch of salt. Firm enough for your spoon to stand up in and perhaps with a drizzle of ice cold milk to take the heat from the edges.

And to be honest, I haven't eaten that in years.

That said, the only cereal I'm eating these days is oatmeal. But if I had free reign in the cereal aisle, I'd choose:

Cap'n Crunch, Grape Nuts, Life, Wheat Chex, Grape Nuts Flakes, Frosted Flakes, Wheaties, Kix, Lucky Charms, Apple Jacks, Sugar Pops, Honeycomb, Alpha Bits, Super Sugar Crisp, Cocoa Puffs, Cocoa Krispies, Wheatabix, Spoon-size Shredded Wheat, Kaboom!, Cap'n Crunch with Crunch Berries, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Golden Grahams, Special K, Post Toasties, Raisin Bran, Honey Nut Cheerios, Bran Chex, Uncle Sam Cereal, or a couple of graham crackers broken up in a bowl with milk.

My least favorite cereal had to be Vanilla Cap'n Crunch.

I don't have to think about Cheerios. I know they're good for me, they don't turn into a disgusting amorphous blob in milk like Corn Flakes, they have more flavor than Shredded Wheat...and the Honey Nuts and the Apple Cinnamons and such have too much sugar, and therefore too many empty calories. So plain ol' Cheerios it is for me, when I'm eating cold breakfast cereal.

But as far as a cereal I actually LIKE, yeah, I think Cinnamon Toast Crunch is where it's at, with Cap'n Crunch running a close second.

My least favorite cereal is Golden Grahams. I always found their "How do they cram all that graham?" slogan to be vaguely dirty and unsettling. And my Mom, in her mysterious and inscrutable Mom Way, somehow decided that Golden Grahams were the perfect balance between healthy and tasty for a kids' cereal, so she just kept buying 'em, box after box, year after year. And Golden Grahams after 90 seconds in milk is one of the most disgusting substances on God's Green Earth. I don't think I could even look at a bowl of Golden Grahams right now, to this very day, without my stomach churning just a bit.

I hate soggy cereal! I usually avoid corn flakes, even though I like them because they get soggy too fast.

I also like that Special K with strawberries in it.

I've also been know to chow on Grape Nuts drizzled with honey. Hot or cold. I saw the method on a commercial years ago and whenever I feel like being healthy, I'll grab a box and eat about half of it before I forget about my health goals.

There's one in every crowd... and I'm assuming it's me since Vanilly Crunch was short-lived. I remember loving it. But I concede that nostalgia and the tendency to want things you just can't get may be playing into it.

The crappiest thing is, when I was little, and cereals we SO fun, my dad forbade us from eating cereals that contained the preservatives BHT or BHA.

This was a very long list of super awesome cereals...so there were a lot of Cheerios growing up.

Dad goes on business trip, we sneak some num nums in mom's cart and polish them off before he returns.

Fast forward to 2001, Dad says, "Oh yeah, those studies were inconclusive...they weren't bad for you after all."

Butt.

As a kid I was given a baggie with dry, unsweetened cereal to snack on when I went out to play. It was usually Cheerios or Wheat Chex but my favoritest was Kix. I loved the corn-y taste of it. And then they went and sweetened it.

I love my apple jacks, followed by super sugar crisp (they don't call it that anymore, do they?), cocoa pebbles, then fruity pebbles. I was denied sugary cereals growing up, so I've been making up lost time.

My current favorite cereal is Kashi Island Vanilla. It's yummy and sweet without being too sweet.

That said, I could eat barrels of Apple Jacks and Froot Loops. The main reason I don't get them anymore is that there are better, yummy, healthy choices for my daughter, and I want to be a good example for her. Also, I can't think of a good mom way to say, "Hands off Mommy's cereal, kid! No, I don't care that it's a kid's cereal, it's MINE!"

It's faster for me to list cereals I don't like: anything chocolate like CocoKrispies or Coco Puffs.

All others I will eat and typically love, though I tend to stay away from the ones that tear your mouth up. There's such a thing as too much crunch - Cap'n I'm lookin' at you. I still haven't forgiven them for frosting the oat bits in Lucky Charms, either. They were perfect the way they were when the oat bits weren't coated in sugar.

Cream of Wheat with butter, sugar, and a bit of extra salt is my all time favorite cereal.

Trader Joe's Just the Clusters Ginger, Almond & Cashew granola with vanilla yogurt is my next best favorite. Their version of raisin bran is pretty awesome, too.

Dry cereal of any kind is fun for snacking, but it never satisfies my hunger.

Count Chocula, Lucky Charms, Peanut Butter Crunch, Honey Nut Cheerios, Quaker Corn Bran, Cocoa Pebbles, Honeycomb, Life, Rice Krispies, Frosted Flakes or cinnamon oatmeal.

I generally restrict myself to the Quaker Corn Bran or the cinnamon oatmeal, with occasional forays over to Honey Nut Cheerios as a treat.

My least favorite would probably be either Kix or anything with raisins in it.

Strangely enough, despite the chocolate fixation, I'm not a big fan of Cocoa Puffs.
