It's odd that we'd have the only two ladies of color squaring off like this.

Why are you people voting for Uhuru? I suspect you're all a bunch of old fogeys only voting out of nostalgia.

All Uhura ever did was say, "Captain, you have a phone call." and then she would turn back around and pretend to push buttons.

Guinan had depth and dimension. She gave out sage wisdom hundreds of times to many different characters. Often saving the day with her advice.

Not the only two. There were I believe six characters in the poll who were played by black, Asian, or Latina actresses.

That the two best-known black women among them meet here was a coincidence of the bracketing formula. Uhura had three times as many episode appearances as Guinan, but only half as much to say each time she showed up. This worked out to seeding positions that put them on course for each other (if they won their previous matches).

A more representative picture of Uhura I think. ("Nyota"? Fagh. She managed perfectly well for decades without the retrofit) Anyway, though she was sadly underwritten I'll put her in as the better character - they tried to hard to make Guinan the magic black woman and didn't really succeed.
