No option for both? Or frozen? This poll is illegitimate!

Stale. Fresh peeps are weird.

Staged in a gruesome, and hopefully disturbing, diorama. Which all gets burned when it starts getting dusty after the contest. I never thought anyone would be nuts enough to actually eat one.

Stale peeps are easier to glue together in previously mentioned dioramas. People actually eat these things?

Nope! They're trying to fool you into eating one.

Really fresh peeps are super soft with no chew to them. They melt in your mouth almost instantly. It's like eating marshmallow fluff rolled in sugar. That's not quite right, but they are really soft.

Slightly stale to very stale have more of an actual texture.

And peeps that have been properly aged for at least ten years have a rind like a coconut.

Well, I can see how it would be hard to say whether the staling process made them more or less revolting.

Mostly for Pere's benefit, I'll mention that the first thing stale Peep fans do upon receiving a package of Peeps is to punch holes in the cellophane to let air in. For a second it kind of seems a shame, until you remember: meh, it's just Peeps.

This. They need to be about three days stale - they get a bit chewy, but not fossilized like after two weeks. Peeps, like pasta, are best al dente.
