I've been away for a bit, travelling to bits of the Northern Territory - around Uluru and Kata Tjuta, with some time in Alice Springs as well. Naturally, a few hundred photos. I won't post 'em all here, but from each stage of the trip, I'll post one or two and include a link to the Flickr set.

So, today, a photo from the day spent walking around Uluru's base (we opted not to climb, as the Anangu ask you to - it's sacred to them, they don't climb it themselves).

I had posted just below about a striated pardalote who was hanging outside the kitchen window: after a week, he's still there, still either flirting with his own reflection or trying to scare it away.

He's apparently not a very bright striated pardalote.

I've been off in the Northern Territory for a few days: we went to Alice Springs, Curtin Springs cattle station, Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Pretty much every item of clothing I took with me has red dust in it.

These two are from the first day, driving between Alice Springs and Curtin Springs. Roadside lookout towards Mount Conner in one direction, and red dust dune in the other.

This little guy was sitting and singing outside the kitchen window for much of the morning.

The wisteria is finally starting to look like actual wisteria.


A bit of a lighting experiment with this daffodil: close up, the flash blows out any detail, so I had my fingers in front of the flash (I don't have a proper speedlight yet), which causes a bit of the colour shift and the variation in lighting levels.
