My wife has died.

She was in declining health for several years. About two weeks ago, her blood sugar crashed(she was a diabetic) and yo-yoed up and down for two days. When it stabilized, she was foggy and unwilling to eat or drink. I finally persuaded her to go to the hospital but over the week she was there, she had, essentially, a whole system shutdown.
Yesterday, I honored her wish to not be kept alive by machine.

We had over 37 years of good(with a few rocky patches) times.
I'll miss you, honey.

Khampelf 21st February 2018 06:00 AM

That is a terrible blow, let me offer my sincere condolences.

How are you holding up, Coach?

running coach 21st February 2018 06:05 AM

I'm alright. This wasn't totally unexpected, just the timing changed at the end.
Sort of like riding a car down a hill with an unseen cliff at the end.

So this morning I put on some music to get my mind off things and the first song that comes up on shuffle is Darryl Worley-I Miss My Friend
I fucking lost it.

This isn't a home anymore.

Solfy 22nd February 2018 06:50 AM

What a brutal kick in the feels from the universe. :(

It's really awful, isn't it, how the rest of the world goes on without us? Don't they care?

I'm so sorry, I'll pray for you and the family.

Anacanapuna 22nd February 2018 06:46 PM

Oh, Coach, I'm so sorry. There are no words I can think of to ease the loss of this most important person in one's life. Know that we are with you in thought and spirit.

I'm really sorry to hear this, I can't imagine how hard a time this must be for you. Please take care of yourself. :(

running coach 23rd February 2018 04:15 AM

Several years ago, my wife put together a bag of important papers, life insurance papers, prepaid funeral papers, etc. Mixed in were her name change and just random bits and pieces, birth certificates, passports(hers), our marriage license. It turns out my baptism certificate was in there.
Now, while our birthdays were a week apart, she was 18 years older.
When I looked at my baptism certificate, I found I was baptized on her birthday.

Wolf Larsen 23rd February 2018 04:36 AM

Going through stuff can be hard. I put all the photos and stuff from my folk's house away for a while before I started looking through it.

Big hugs, this hurts.

tunaman 23rd February 2018 07:56 AM

Sorry for your loss. :(

Smart of her to do this. I need to do something similar. I found out after being sick in bed for a week that my husband doesn't know how to run the dishwasher. He'd be lost dealing with the business end of things.
