Newest baby 'Raffer!
Meet Jaden Kai, born today at 1732 PST, after about 11 hours labor. 7lbs 7ozs, 20.5 inches long, ten fingers, ten toes, a good healthy set of lungs on him but so far pretty willing to be chill and look around at everybody. Gotta say, my DIL handled it like a champ and my son is absolutely over the moon--well, so am I! My face hurts from grinning and I've been leaking tears all evening, I'm so glad he's finally here and all is well. Whew!

Thanks everybody, it's such a relief to have him out in the air where we can all check him out for supernumerary digits and strawberry marks! This is my third grandchild, but the first where I've been there from the start--the first one was born a long way away so I didn't get to meet him until he was walking and talking. The second is a step-granddaughter so I didn't get to meet her until she was likewise advanced. This one I get to lead astray from the git-go! I'm also the Closest Grandma (3 minutes or 1.5 miles depending on how you count the distance) and the Spry Grandma (youngest grandparent of six) so I fully expect to be the one tapped for babysitting, although I'll have to fight a couple of aunties for that privilege. I'm so excited, I'm even looking forward to changing poopy diapers, and that is sayin' something!

Punk! Not quite that bad, although I did find out she was pregnant when she was only a few weeks along, got a text message as soon as the pee stick did its trick. On a similar note, my niece was conceived in the back of my van during my son's housewarming party, after copious imbibing of a 30 year old bottle of tequila I brought so I consider myself to be instrumental in her existence. The worst part is that she was born long before I retired the van from delivery service and there was no carpet or couch back there the way there is now. That Rhino Hide bed liner must've been damned chilly and uncomfortable...

 Re: Your rhino hide, it could have been worse, it might have been naugahide. Have you ever tried catching a nauga? That's why it costs so much.

Ain't he a peach? I went back over to the hospital today and managed to catch the kids in between visitors--they're both very tired, didn't get much sleep last night so I cuddled the babby while they caught a few winks each. Then I stole their car and took it to the local fire department where a nice man installed the bebeh seat for me--it's one of those complicated ones with the latches and a spirit level and stuff and I wanted to make sure it was put in correctly. I love firefighters!
There was plenty of nice natural light today so I could get some pics without having to use the darned flash, which makes him squint something awful. Mama and baby:   OMG, I just want to nom this ear all day long!  Caught him with his eyes open just as the light was failing--peek-a-boo!

He's coming home this evening--I have a crock pot mess bubbling for their dinner so nobody has to think about food just yet. Can't wait for more neck snorgles and fuzzy head kissies, aaaaahhhhhh....
