What city is the movie 7even set in?

It can't be Los Angeles because it's raining all the fucking time and LA doesn't have an above ground subway system, like the one outside Pitt and Paltrows apartment. I'd say San Francisco, but the city in the movie doesn't seem hilly enough.

And I can't see how it could be New York, 'cause there's no way you can drive out of New York and be in semi-fucking desert in an hour or so.

Any help?

I don't think it matters, really, precisely where it's set, since it's not about the setting so much. Call it "alternate Los Angeles" if that makes you feel better.

The screenwriter says he was inspired to write it by living in New York City. After that, it sounds like they just tried to create a big, decaying, violent, depressing city without setting it anywhere in particular.

Maybe all movies with those moronic titles using numerals in place of letters all take place in the same crime-ridden city.

Dallas?

If you squint a little while you watch it, it kind of looks like San Diego. The city even has a light rail running through it's downtown area and it's pretty arid on the outskirts.

According to IMDB all the filming locations are in LA with the exception of Mojave and Philadelphia. So yeah, one of those years when LA gets lots of mudslides and flash floods, I guess!

It's the Los Angeles that "Blade Runner" was set in.
