First of all, the real chat will be back in a couple of hours.

Secondly, that link is meant to be emailed to an invitee and each invitee would get a slightly different link that goes to the same room. We're all using the same invite but since we're like family here, it's ok.

I had to leave; my entire computer would freeze up for a half-second every time someone posted something. Does that happen for anyone else, or is it just my aging computer?

If it's just me, then it's possible this is related to the same issue that prevents me from running The Sims2 or World of Warcraft (both caused massive freezing).

Idunno, the sounds never played for me, and none of the other sounds on my computer were messed up at all. Next time I'm in I'll disable them, and see if that helps.

Just remember if you disable the sounds, you've got to log out and back in again before it takes effect.

but yeah, I'd say it's the sounds too. Otherwise this chat is pretty system-unintensive.

The link upthread does lead to a chat room, if you haven't used the old chat you have to register before you can log in. I just registered a test account and registration is still working.

At the moment things are being investigated and ironed out to try and resolve this issue. Use the temp chat for now, I'll update you when I've got more information.
