Roubaud?
I realize he was perma boxed because he was a sock, but whose sock was he? Jaladin? FairPoint? Someone else?
Just curious. |

Just out of curiosity: how many smelly socks do the Permaboxed get to wave under our noses before more significant action is taken?

What more permanent action do you propose.

That'd work. Or marmelade and feathers. Either one.

An IP ban is pretty much useless in the smartphone era. I could ban the entire range of IPs in his metro area but then a lot of people that we really like would be banned as well.

Frankly, he was making an idle threat. We've banned the IPs that look to be coming from his house but that's all we can do. Even that isn't a big deal because posting through a proxy is trivial.

um, isn't that for sex? You just want to keep him busy?
Actually I didn't find any of the posts problematic. |

Sometimes he's almost coherent. Then other times he's not. When he oversteps his bounds, into the Box he goes. The "bounds" are subjective. :takes off jackboots, slips into flipflops: |

In other words, being boxed has no consequences as long as you can create a sock that will post coherently a couple of times. But post in a thread where that sock also posts at your risk because he'll turn into a fuckhead at his own whim.
I think I understand now. |

Shockingly, I am not as familiar with trolling messageboards as, say, you.

Yes, people often post from more than one IP.

This has become the Jaledin Board. It seems that most every thing revolves around him, what to do about him, how to do it, what socks he is using and what the hell is he talking about.

IP bans are also pointless if you have an ISP that periodically changes them on you. I use DSL, so mine's static but when I had cable they were changing it constantly and freaking out my router something fierce--record was over 100 IP changes in one DAY. That sucked. So if he has Comcast and they flip his IP every couple weeks he'll be unbanninated without even having to screw around with proxies, just wait until they do it again. Or call them up and ask them to change it, they'd probably do that. Then again, it's Comcast so they might just scream "FUCK YOU" and hang up. 'Bout a 30% chance on that.

You're not helping our argument against an area-wide IP ban.

All facts go to clearly prove that Jaledin is a thrice-cursed traitor without an equal in the world as he had desperately worked for years to destabilize and bring down the DPGB and grab the supreme power of the party and state by employing all the most cunning and sinister means and methods, pursuant to the "strategic patience" policy and "waiting strategy" of the Straight Dope puppet group of traitors.
The era and history will eternally record and never forget the shuddering crimes committed by Jaledin, the enemy of the party, revolution and people and heinous traitor to the nation. The special military tribunal of the Ministry of State Security of the DBGB confirmed that the board subversion attempted by the accused Jaledin with an aim to overthrow the people's power of the DBGB by ideologically aligning himself with enemies is a crime punishable by Article 6 of the DPGB Criminal Code, vehemently condemned him as a wicked political careerist, trickster and traitor for all ages in the name of the revolution and the people and ruled that his IP address would be sentenced to death according to it. The decision was immediately executed. |
