Disco Dancing you fears away, and how I earned ti be happy as a MAUF

I am a MAUF.
A Middle Aged Urban Failure.

I do not expect to be taken seiously.
I also do not expect people to care.
I really don't give a flying wombat poo, cubed as they may be.
I just want to have fun.
That is surely not too much is it?

It is Saturday, and for the first time in a long time, I will go DANCE!
I will polish my disco shoes, put on the tuxedo, and then I will strut myself on the dance-floor.

After an evening of laughter, drinks, disco moves and flirtilicios behavior, I expect I may end up in bed with an old cow, who just like me won't care. We will just have some fun.

And then, it will be Sunday. We will have breakfast, we will see each other in the horrible light of broad day-light, and most likely agree that this never happened.

That is fine.

I will now leave you with some music to get the juices flowing - I hope you too will have a most happy Saturday Night. Remember that sea-gull?

“You will begin to touch heaven, Jonathan, in the moment that you touch perfect speed. And that isn’t flying a thousand miles an hour, or a million, or flying at the speed of light. Because any number is a limit, and perfection doesn’t have limits. Perfect speed, my son, is being there.”
― Richard Bach, Jonathan Livingston Seagull

All the best,
Jim

Could be worse. I'm a MARF (Middle Aged Rural Failure, rhymes with 'Barf', which means 'to vomit').

That was one of my favorite books as a kid. Gotta see if the library has a copy. You made me want to re-read it, again. RB wrote at least one other book that I loved.

sometimes it's great to be virtually in a different time. I recently re-read the novel Madam, Will You Talk? which is a very good book with a terrible title.

the point is, you are absolutely sucked into that time when everyone was smoking cigarettes, drinking tons of alcohol, coffee in the evening, driving fast cars with no mention of a safety belt and so on. The heroine wear clothes made of icky man-man fibers like nylon! but I'm sure she looked fantastic in them.

In my opinion, Bach's books have Not Aged Well At All (shudder, shudder, shudder). The flying bits were cool, though.

If you jump in a pool, does that make you a MAUF diver?
