Both are very worthy toys, but neither is really a favorite of mine. So I'll go with the zombie apocalypse tiebreaker. When the apocalypse hits and the power stations go offline, my electric train will sit idle, but I'll still be able to play with LEGOs.

Well, I'm pretty happy with the final 2. Lego bricks and trains.

For me Lego is the #1 toy of all time. Still fairly new when I was a kid.

What if your LEGOs turn into zombies?

This is kinda tough. I like the zombie calypso (electric) train of thought.

An electric train set was the toy I most wished for as a kid. Alas, it was too friggin expensive for my parents - and it's still too friggin expensive. And even though Lego sets can be friggin expensive too (I want the Millennium Falcon), they can be had for a couple of bucks.
I think a great toy should really be simple and inexpensive and Lego fits that.

The relevance of LEGO has not only stayed over the generations, but continues to explode!! The uniqueness of LEGO kits only continues to grow, including custom kits that people can sell themselves. A maker's sandbox, besides the humble cardboard box. LEGO is the clear winner.

I really enjoyed all of the electric train sets we had as kids, and there were many. But they took up a lot of space, so had to be disassembled and put away most of the time. And even when they were out, you can only watch it go around the tracks so many times.

But Lego could be played with any time and almost any place and it was different every time. You could build anything you had enough bricks for. Or you could have a contest to see who could make the most painful thing to step on in the dark.

I like trains, but seriously, Legos are the best.

What's cool with both of these is that they're not just for kids, they can be enjoyed for a lifetime.

I think in honor of this megapoll final we should build a giant LEGO out of electric trains.

Who knew that train-gods had such prominent breasts. Some basement-dwelling nerd raised on sci-fi and fantasy art, that's who.
