Khampelf's facial hair poll

Okay, so Khampelf started a neckbeard thread, and has now demanded a poll on his facial hair. So, I suppose we might as well sock it to him. Poll is private to allow everyone to more efficiently crush his spirit.

If you wish your response to be public, you can make supportive/cutting remarks below.

Foul!

If I vote Option #3, does that imply Khampelf looks good naked?

We must see the neckbeard in order to determine whether or not it looked good on him or if it was just terrible.

We also must see him naked, to determine whether or not Zeener's suggestion is true.

Going back over those pictures make me miss my beard. I can't help thinking I look like a dork without it.

Yes, yes, no one needs tell me I look a dork either way. And my job sort of requires me to be clean shaven.

Or does it? Off to check the employee manual....

You looked very Berkeley hippie with the long hair and beard. Laid back, but a little lazy and probably stoned. The difference between that and your clean cut persona is quite striking. Clean cut guy looks like he gets shit done.

I wouldn't call your beard a neckbeard, although it's getting close. If you go back to facial hair, find a style that's more neatly trimmed.

Khampy, I far prefer you with facial hair. You're a very good looking man either way, but -- just so you know -- there are women for whom "clean shaven" is not particularly a turn on.

ok now . . . the only thing you could have done to look More different is shave your head . . . if you don't like the smooth look (which is nice) you could go for one of the 9,422 options between that and full-on hair (which is also nice). Given that the spectrum is

Nice -------------------------<hair level>--------------------------------- Nice

you are not likely to go wrong.

Neckbeard=icky does not mean all beards=icky. If you grow it, GROOM it.

I like you better clean shaven, but not all men look their best that way. But all men do look better cleaned up. <ignores battle worn Aragorn for now>

2-cents worth. I think Kamp oughtta keep the nice, trim haircut and grow an authoritative beard to go with it. Maybe a VanDyke or something with handlebars.

Just to be contrary, I suggest he grow the head hair back out and remain clean shaven.

I say either grow your beard or shave it or grow just a mustache. I think neck-beards and soul patches look silly.

I don't groove on that un-tucked dress shirt thing at the office either. Guess I'm showing my age.

An Amish beard != neckbeard! I personally have had two over the past month -- long weekend, too late Monday morning for a full shave, just trim the easy stuff and go. Looks a shitload better than stumbling around with three days of growth.

Never seen the untucked fancy shirt thing -- I do it myself when my pants have suspiciously-located stains or can't find a belt, but I don't work in an office (well, I do sometimes but only late hours nobody else wants to pick up). That kind of hooligan should be bitch-slapped with your dick, Overholt, since you brought it up. I think you're a troublemaker!

Also for Overholt -- just a stache? That's the kind of suggestion a troublemaker would make! Alain Delon can have a stache, cause he's cool as shit. Maybe David Niven and Tom Selleck. That's about it. No humans.

I just confirmed -- Mac Rebennack aka Dr. John the Night Tripper has pretty much an Amish going on in *The Last Waltz*. If that fat motherfucker piano-loving, radiator of the eighty-eights can pull it off, I think anyone has the right. No "Mall Claw" there rugrats. Not even in the same county or country.

Dr. John is one of my earliest piano heroes right next to Ray Charles, Janice Scroggins, and Hampton Hawes -- no disrespect is intended to "Mac." Throw in Ashkenazy, Brendel, and Gould if you want, but this is all an aside.

Fuck -- you're not wrong that Ramsey played. He was really the first "jazz" guy who tipped me off. Then Les McCann and on to the bebop. I still mess around with "The In Crowd," occasionally in public, never having bothered to hear the pop version. Also stole his arrangement of "Something You Got" off some album I can't remember.

Some scam artist in NYC when I first got there at 17 or 18 saw my new LP of McCann (IMHO a Lewis spin-off, no offense Les) wrapped in a paper bag like they give you and took pity on me and didn't hustle me for spotting me buying weed at the park. I think his gig was pretending he was police and extorting money, but that shit didn't work. I was so gullible (*why*! the fuck is that the correct spelling? should be guillible or something) it might have worked.

ETA OK Les's arrangements and compositions and general dexterity schooled the house, but Ramsey had the first foot in and kept it there for a long time until he changed musical directions.

I think there are a lot of choices between A and B here. The full on hair and beard looks unkempt, but you could rein that in a bit and have the best of both worlds. Unless you really are required to have short hair and no facial hair.

WTF does Gardner have to do with anything? I love the man's playing a whole bunch, but he never even *had* a beard AFAIK. ETA you got him afussed with Ahmad Jamal -- he had some beard going for a while, and he's in that same bag. I'll just give you a warning this time.

Fine. Herbie ca. *Man-Child* or *Secrets* -- that Egyptian thing he was rocking. For some values of neck he qualifies. Enough random famous people and more disdain for gross people! That's what I paid for when I signed up.
