Why does this old thread continue to get so many views?
This is probably a question that only an admin might have the ability to answer. Strictly out of curiosity, why do some old threads continue to pile up views? Over and over again, if you ever look at Who's Online you'll see one or more Guests viewing the same certain threads. In particular Greatest HIT ARTIST of the '70s, Round 1a: Elton John vs. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band is interesting to me because it is one of eight similar threads that were created one after another but it has a crazy number of Views (17,807 right now) and the other seven do not (none with as many as 1,000 right now).
Sometimes if a thread is getting a ton of Views it is because someone has posted a link to it elsewhere on the Internet, but I can't find any such link for this thread. Some examples of other threads that I've noticed still rack up new Views for no reason that I can determine are "Me and Julio Down By the Schoolyard": What did the mama see?, What's the deal with Brand Power commercials?, and What is the origin of "Hey batta batta batta swing batta batta"?; there are plenty of others. But the first one that I linked to earlier is especially curious to me since it was part of a cohort of similar threads but is the only one that our Guests seem to care about in the group. |

Impressive! Under the guise of asking a question, you've started a thread that will still be racking up clicks 1000 years from now. You don't see veteran maneuvers like that too often.

My bookmark for the sd is a thread from 2014 so I'm consistently visiting that thread. It wasn't that I chose that for a reason other than it was there and I'm lazy.

Heh, that's funny and I know I've had similar lazily created bookmarks that went to oddly specific pages within particular sites rather than to more practical starting points for them.

I think I have only one such bookmark and it is IMDB. IMDB was perhaps my first homepage back in the 1990s (superseded by the end of the 90s.) But as it changed its look, etc., it became too difficult to load because of the ads and the auto-play videos on the front page about a million different IMDB things.
So I went to the Star Wars (1977) page and bookmarked it instead. I haven't seen IMDB's front page in many years. |
