I've never played Axis & Allies. But I watched both videos, and Nerd Girl is hot while Dork Boy is not.

I watched both videos as well and was astonished that despite Nerd Girl's enthusiasm and, overall a much better video, plus the board has a map!!! I still thought Stratego sounded more interesting!

I've played both games many, many times. Stratego is the one you can play with people who aren't into war games.

This is an easy call for me for Axis & Allies. I never much cared for Stratego as it there is no fuzz in the system, mechanically; there is no randomness (even on setup) no third+ player, no bluffing. I couldn't beat a Stratego version of Gary Kasparov.
As I mentioned earlier, the weakness for A&A is length of game and some people don't like dice determining so much. |

Axis and Allies is basically what you're doing for the night with friends. Stratego is more like chess, you could play a game or 3 without planning or great commitment.
