Happy birthday to me! I'm 17 now.
August 29th, 1998, 3:27 P.M. A little terror was brought into this world. A terror that if not born, the world would not have changed, but hell, I arrived anyways!

17 years later, i'm still alive! I didn't expect to be here this long. I figured natural selection would take it's course.

But here I am, and i'm 17. One year away from the infamous 18... Which i'm scared of turning, hahaha! I don't wanna be an adult!!

My folks are holding a small little BBQ party for me, we're gunna have the few friends we've all made here, including the only person I would consider a 'great friend of mine', so it'll be great. I'm looking forward to that.

And the cake and ice cream.

Senpai: I'm glad you took my joke in the spirit intended. That sort of humor can be a bit risky.

Actually, flirting with the underaged is sort of an unwritten rule here. Some years ago, at another board, Giraffe got to flirting with a poster and then discovered that she was only fourteen. (Happily, he was suitably embarrassed.)

I'm less afraid of it because then id' be an adult, it's kind of the realization factor above anything else. Like... 'Wow, i've been alive so long I am now considered an adult!'

Ah gotcha. Well, yeah. That "realization" factor you talk about never stops happening. I'm turning 30 next year, and I'm going through a similar feeling of "wow, I really am that old now, aren't I?" And I don't even obsess over my age like most people... in fact, I look forward to getting older even still, since it means more money, a house, a family, etc, things I've been looking forward to for a long time. So yeah, I totally get you! Hope the BBQ is tasty.

Eugh, dang it. It just lingers in the back of my head.

Well, hey, I mean... If I was 30, i'd be freaking out. When i eventually do turn 30, i'll freak out, hah! But 30 in comparison the the average lifespan of a human is still young, so don't worry about being like.. a crotchety old fart, or anything like that yet!

My mom's the best cook. The BBQ will be fabulous, I can already tell!

Birthdays as I've gotten older aren't upsetting, just confusing. I don't mind being forty-two. I'm just not sure how the heck it happened, since I was in my twenties just a few days ago.
