Masterchef Day 1- And Begin!!

As the chefs entered the Masterchef Kitchen, they see Colby, as well as Gordon Ramsay and Graham Elliot. Colby introduced everyone, “Greetings chefs! As you may know, I have done Hell’s Kitchen several times, but this is the first time that we have set foot in the Masterchef Kitchen… don’t F8ck it up!! Now, please go to your stations.”

Everyone sees a large mystery box, made out of cedar. All of the chefs open it to reveal every kind of tomatoes that you can think of, from green tomatoes, heirloom, cherry, beefsteak, and more. “Tomatoes are a blank canvas. You can do anything with a tomato… so let’s see your best dishes with it”.

All roles have been sent out. If you have not gotten it, or need any clarification, please PM me.

Day ends Tuesday the 27th at 7pm CST.

Here I am, trying to contort myself into the Mendie sock, But uh, yeah, I don't need to, or more importantly, should contort here. A Day 1, Post 1 [Essentially] vote should get called out each and every time it occurs.

Pleo could be onto something… the more gruesome the recipe (chopping, grilling, mashing, frying) the more likely the chef is evil?

Pleo doesn’t usually breadcrumb, he just claims in his first post, except when he doesn’t.

I'm trying to strike a balance of having meaningful Day 1 conversation, while holding back. Regarless of Sock, I have a passing knowledge of Simon Templar / The Saint, if not in name only. In short I am trying to do a lot more watching, a lot less voting.

I would have thought mundane "hunting" was preferred over baseless voting.

FWIW Meeko would probably have already voted. - A vote in BC's direction.

Could you describe, in a couple of lines, what you’re trying to do? I understood this was a gender affirmation thing, but are you uncovering a new personality, or is it just a new in-game persona? If the question is too personal, or blurred, please ignore. I just wasn’t expecting you to play or post differently to your alter ego.

It’s crazy how often a gut read from a page 1 post turns out to be true. Well, could be confirmation bias, but off the top of my head I remember a good few. The challenge is when no-one shares that gut read and you have to step back and wait for the player to do something, but you’ve already shown your hand.

Nice to play with you again, hope you’re town this time.

Guiri

Am I questioning Gender?
Am I looking for a different / better play style?
Do I want to explore both?
Can the account I already have, that does indeed have the feminine name I want, and actually does have my fursona comission of Mendie on it , as well, be pressed into use for this purpose? after the horrible showing in Mendie's first showing, a Sock centric game to be gin with....

All of the above.

Or at least, It's trying to be.

What game was it, it was the only other game Kai was a player in. Just, I think we were both beside ourselves to see another "Fur". And I guess, LGBT+ has an increased chance to play into that.

And, we kinda got carried away with that.

I think, it just speaks to the fact, that, at least we are more open with how neurodivergent we are, and we are probably divergent in similar ways.

Uh oh, I am in trouble, having slashed, boiled, plunged into icy water, chopped, diced, fried, and SET ON FIRE. But wait, Pleo said what?

FOS for sucking up to the chef by using one of the judges' own recipes! But as you've probably seen by now, Colby is not going to look it up. Get back here and add some more detail.

To clarify, the person that has the most amount of votes is eliminated. Ties are broken by the first person to reach the max amount first. Apologies that I did not clarify this in the rules…

Apparently it’s showing that I haven’t modded a mafia game in forever…

I have a tomato based pasta sauce but that would be redundant at this time.

There is a chill in the air here and my first thought was grilled cheese [cheddar] and tomato sandwiches with home made tomato soup.
the tomato pureed from the garden is heated with milk and a healthy amount of cream cheese . we have beefsteak//cross tomatoes ( yes my tomato spelling is fluid)
Yes I grill the sandwich with the slices of tomato between the cheese slices
Yum

Roma is a kind of tomato so Mendie is okay.

But Mahaloth used canned tomatoes (gasp!).

Brown the beef, then drain. Add everything to a big crock pot or stovetop pot and simmer for a really long time.

Boom, spaghetti sauce.

Yes but it is the first person to submit the winning item/dish/technique etc that will win the competition. It is not revealed until the end of the round

I’m gonna grab about three of these big heirloom tomatoes and peel ‘em, seed ‘em, and chop ‘em. Then let those bad boys rest while I chop up the rest of the stuff—about half a small white onion, all of a shallot, and the white end of a leek. Melt two tablespoons of butter in a skillet and add the onion, shallot, and leek, cook until transparent. Then add 1 tablespoon of cognac to the skillet and about ¼ cup of Madeira wine. Light it (preferably with a fireplace match). When the flames die out, put it back over medium heat, cook until reduced by half, then pour in your tomatoes, along with about a of chicken stock and some chopped fresh basil leaves. Simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, puree in a food processor or blender, strain. Whisk in one more tablespoon of butter and one more tablespoon of Madeira. Excellent over gnocchi, maybe with a pinch of grated parmesan and some freshly ground black pepper.

I'm going to have a delicious Caesar salad. Three different types of lettuce, croutons, cherry tomatoes beefsteak tomatoes. egg whites, anchovies, two types of cheese, lemon juice, fresh garlic cloves, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, pepper and a bit of mustard. Never mind the quantities — use your imagination. I usually add some avocado but Mendie Taoma used up all the avocado in my pantry and avocado is very hard to find here.

For variety, I'll divide the tomatoes into nine small groups, respectively slicing, dicing, frying, boiling, broiling, barbecuing, squeezing, decorating, and slathering (in Kahlua) the separate groups.

Enjoy. If still hungry I'll make a California Burger.

It is good! I am a big fan of setting things on fire on the stovetop, it just does something good. Flambeed tomato sauce. It's also idiot proof so if you goof and dump in the tomatoes before you light it, you can still light it. It might even be better that way.

Can it be any old recipe off the internet or should it be something I have made, or could make myself?

Caprese salad: beefsteak tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, dried oregano, extra-virgin olive oil, salt, optionally pepper. Slice and season the tomatoes with salt, slice and dry off excess water from the mozzarella, place tomatoes and cheese in alternating sequence on a plate, decorate with basil leaves, sprinkle some oregano, dribble some olive oil, serve immediately.

If this were a multi-vote game, I'd vote BOTH Messrs Pleonast and Taoma for — what strikes me as — premature or over-striving scum hunting.

OTOH, having played here before, these early ruminations may be Meeko- and Pleonast-indicative rather than alignment-indicative.

Looking at a couple of recipes I have a feeling any attempt that I may make would result similarly. I may go for a nice pico de gallo instead.

Barbecue snobs like to look down on other traditions, but the boundary between bbq sauce and ketchup is a fuzzy one. And too many people take for granted how hard it is too make a good ketchup. Heinz doesn't get enough credit, especially for its "upmarket" brands like Simply.

I'm going to once again use those tomatoes to make gazpacho from the French Laundry cookbook.

I was asked if this was allowed. Yes, technically it is allowed… but I am not going to go looking for an ingredient list or look up the recipe… so if that recipe had whatever the secret ingredient is, or technique (if I’m looking for one in particular), then they are up a creek.

You have played with Simon Templar before under another name

Kaiveran is pretty new.

Also I note that you have used every possible technique on your tomatoes. But: did you carve an X into one end and blanch them and then plunge them into ice water so as to easily peel them? I probably should have mentioned that technique in the interests of being thorough.
