Most links were now Chinese and Russian sites, but I found a link to Atomic Burger (UK) with lots of choices. See for yourself, if you have a minute. I'd opt for a play-in round to cut to 256. Plus some judicious editing. For example, Taco Bell has a variation of the Crunchwrap listed 3 times, McDonalds has the apple pie listed twice, etc.

I agree with our fishy friend. Don't make extra work for yourself, and I'd rather avoid a lackluster round 1 full of matchups that only the nominators know or care about.

Either that or worthy contenders get bounced early because of people rooting for the underdog, and other shenanigans.

I'll second the motion. I seriously doubt that a R1 matchup between Popeye's Chicken Sando and something from Del Taco would result in an upset, but I could see the Chik-fil-A sando losing to something from TOGOS (I'd vote for it) based on past practices.

They also have multiple burritos listed, and other places have multiple burgers, what's your point? Crunchwrap is just a specific TB style of burrito wrap. (Although depending on how the play-ins go, I may combine the 2 breakfast Crunchwraps to a single entry. That will also affect whether I combine the original fried McD's apple pie with the inferior current baked apple pie. And some others, like the Big Mac/Double Big Mac. Some I am currently not considering combining, but will look at them again if anyone has a specific concern.)

Also, I haven't been to Sonic more than a couple of times, but none of its mains are good enough to nominate? Really?

My personal opinion is that lumping is necessary and good when the variations are minor. Otherwise things degenerate into "that version is inferior because it has one too few pickle slices on it" and nonsense like that. Do we really want to have to wade through

Subway has fresh baked bread, Quiznos has extra crappy bread. But hey both suck and I would rather have Wawa. Best large chain sub shop is the growing Jersey Mike's. They make a legit sub.

I am pretty cool on Jersey Mikes. They are ok, but not fantastic. I sort of like Firehouse Subs, but weirdly always leave them feeling like I didn't eat real food.

Subway is the only sandwich place I've been to where the bread literally fell apart as I was eating it. At least Jersey Mike's holds up after two days in the fridge. (Another place --- TOGOs --- bakes bread that gives your jaws a real workout.)
