Due to the way search indexes are stored, using regular expressions to search would require orders of magnitude more processing for each search performed. A typical inverted index links from a search term directly to all the results containing it, whereas a regexp search term would actually need to be tested against each potential result separately. I don't know of ways to make that scale up to google size. And they don't have much incentive to work on that problem, since hardly anybody knows what the heck a regexp is.

BTDubs to @faithfool, I believe the google terms you want to enter are:

site:boards.straightdope.com "view single post" "find all posts by faithfool" "og"

Adding "AND" doesn't do anything, as far as I know. Putting things in quotes forces them to be required, exact search terms, which is important even for "og" because if you don't make it exact, google will decide you may have meant "of" and show you those results too. I used "find all posts by faithfool" in place of your location text because it makes it easier to do this search for any username without knowing their location.
