People have tried to do it (or done it without thinking about it), but the offending info is removed as quickly as possible. A few people (years back) have been boxed for it...there was one guy who was stalking Dio and just edging around doxxing. Charles someone? I think he got permaboxed for it.

But that's one of the hard-and-fast rules here: no doxxing.

I think Octaputz was the one most intent on creating the x-board drama. It failed because everything he does fails. But he really did try.

What is really funny though, is the little line on the home page here. The one that says 50 members online, 100 guests. Click that and you can see which forum they are in. Most the guests are browsing (vanity searching?) BYB. It offends them so much they can't put it down, choosing instead to keep it open in a separate tab.

I don't get why you folks don't like doxing.

Say some guy's doxxed. His life isn't ruined if he's doxxed, even incorrectly. He just gets misidentified for a bit. The mistake is made public, and things will be fine for him now. It's regrettable that he got caught up in it for a bit.

Yes, a bit of misidentification that gets cleared up quickly is worth it. Why wouldn't it be? There are evil people, who are being fought using speech. Doxxing someone is free speech. If they want to do this stuff out in public, then getting public consequences is perfectly acceptable.

That someone gets misidentified is unfortunate. Which is why we should try not to do that. But to use that as an excuse to sit on our hands and do nothing is ridiculous.

The law can't do anything about this, so we can't wait on that. So we use the justice we can legally mete out.

What is supposed to be wrong with that? Do you say that the fact that sometimes someone goes to jail unnecessarily for a few days until that's cleared up means that police shouldn't do what they do?
