Then from time to time when someone happens to notice and they bring it up, I simply say that I'm old school and don't talk that way in front of women, that it's a 'respect thing'. The mile-wide smiles this brings tells me these women enjoy being treated respectfully because they're women. And guess what? Just like ladylike behavior brings out gentlemanly behavior in men, my respect for them by not cursing in front of them has largely led them to start cleaning up their language in front of me.

So hopefully some of the more imbecilic aspects of the women's movement have blown over and now with the younger generation men can get back to doing nice and thoughtful things for women without being glared at or called sexist pigs for their trouble.

I am about the same age as this asshole, and I am also one of the oldest people in a workplace of over 900 workers. If I started volunteering to walk "young women" to their cars in the dark, I don't think that it would go over well. But SA lives on a different planet.

What's funny is STM is about as doctrinaire left-wing as you can get without going full Trotsky. The "owner" was the president of the union over there and the ownership group is the union bigwigs and for all I know the union itself. I can't quite articulate what bugs me about this post. Is it the royal third person? Yes, in part, but it's the pompous self importance in the whole thing. No one is priding themselves on anything, hopefully not in GD, which is mostly people shouting slogans at each other while trying to stay on one side of the rules.

The dope is a motley collection of trolls, lunatics, dorks and other dysfunctional people, and I include myself. People are there to kill time and be amused. Chance really wants to see them as a group of Oxford dons. I think that's why he won't mod anything that isn't a bright line rules violation. This is why he has such a hard time modding trollish bad faith arguments.

I mean the Gweeb isn't much different from the dope in the nature of its members, but at least it's honest about what it is.
