OOG this week my schedule changed (again) and I'm now on...I think... My 16th direct manager in a little less than 4 years. So... Yay.
In game- this game has gotten really weird. It feels like there's no suspense at all, but I keep telling myself that there is. |

And the just-so stories about kids playing chess don't help ![]() There are no kings on the board! Then one child moved his king and trapped the other king! Which again were both removed "a long time ago" the kids have stalemate, which is somehow accomplished in a game with no kings! Even though the kings are chasing each other in check! <shakes head> |

@Pleonast - the official vote count for Fig doesn't currently show Pizza voting for sturmhauke. But I think his post 41 should count as a vote. Please could you publicly clarify whether it does or not?
@Askthepizzaguy I'm a big fan of Ben Finegold's chess videos, have been watching them for a while now. A great mixture of good chess and bad comedy (and sometimes the other way round). |

@sturmhauke I agree with your analysis in post 89. However, there is one rather large problem which you conveniently don't mention (either deliberately or accidentally - I won't hold it against you either way, if deliberate then it is a fine attempt to win the game). That is that if raventhief and Mahaloth transmigrate, it hands control of Mango to Town, which is very much in your favour. This is because you will come straight here as Town on your imminent execution, as will Merestil Haye. And if LightFoot is indeed Town here, as you hypothesise (and as indeed needs to be the case for Town to still have a chance in Fig), she will come here as Town too. So the plan works out very nicely for you and Merestil Haye, but is of no help to me, Mahaloth, and raventhief. It's possible they might feel differently, but from my perspective it's no deal, sorry. Even if they feel differently, it would still only be a very small chance of a Town win in Fig, as I've said all along.
It wouldn't surprise me if sturmhauke has been chosen as the execution in Fig toDay for this exact reason - to make sure any plan to try for a Town win in Fig can't work in practice. I admit I was premature in declaring it, but I'm now more certain for ever that we are all locked in to a loss here. |

Lion, if you are playing in a bridge tournament, and by the last hand it is obvious that you and your partner have no chance of winning the tournament, but in that last hand you are paired against 2 players who you like, and they are close to winning the event themselves, do you play sub-optimally to give them a better chance of success?

Lion, I appreciate bridge is not an exact analogy. But in this case, I have looked at all the things that need to be in my favour to win the game, and concluded it is still impossible to win. In that case, transmigrating would merely be a case of giving the opposition overtricks, without any increase in my own winning chances.

I was quite happy to consider the 'deal' offered by sturmhauke and Merestil Haye until I ran the numbers and realised that it was entirely one way, in that if it didn't result in a Town win in Fig, it might also result in a Town win in Mango. Not only that, even if sturmhauke and Merestil Haye engaged in some sort of unbreakable vow to allow Scum to win in Mango anyway, it still offers barely any chance of Town success in Fig. The most likely outcome, it seems to me, would be Scum win in Fig and Lotus, and Town win in Mango. That feels worse to me than the status quo - yes they are both losses for me, but I would rather nobody wins than I lose and someone else wins. Maybe that's churlish of me - I just consider it part of gaming, which is a competitive endeavour. Lion, you are only my team-mate in Lotus in this game, and we have already lost there.
In any case, it's not me you need to persuade - no-one has seriously proposed that I transmigrate to Lotus. You need to convince raventhief and Mahaloth. I commend you for trying, I suppose. |
