Pace yourself.

What is this concept, pacing?

I'm not becoming the Pleonast "post early" guy, though I obviously did that in this game for no solid reason.

I think in the last game where I did it, it was because I used my power Night Zero or Night One and dropped the relevant info right away.

Anyway, if you don't believe me, you can definitely kill me. It's a bad idea, but if you really see nothing else today.

Okay, well I like to start D1 in a position of trust, that is to say reading everyone as if they're town. If I do that sometimes things stand out.

Two days into D1 is not that early, but two players haven't even posted yet. So there is not a lot to stand out...

And what stands out to me right now is that Meeko, who is famous for being Meeko, seems to be trying to out-Meeko himself in this game.

But my problem here is that I could be focusing on Meeko just because, unlike most of the players aside from you, he's posting. Right now: Meeko 11, Guiri 10, TexCat 5. Vanta 6 (that is counting this post). There is not a lot to hang onto. I'm not one of those players who can suss out alignment with a single post.

A bit bothered by TexCat's quick pickup of the Mahaloth vote, but at the same time I can see reasons for the Mahaloth vote. So I'm going around in a circle here with this one.

(Is this refreshing after the MU game that had a post cap of 150 posts/day and people hit that? Also btw good job in that game, I didn't really follow it other than to see that you picked out the only scum the town got.)

That whole last post was a reply to guiri. I mean anyone can read it but some of it probably needs that context.

I was concerned about this as well because TexCat just did this exact move as scum in your game (and she won us the game, yay TexCat!). But I think that her vote in that game was emulating her town game, and that she would be less likely to pull the exact same move on the same person twice in a row as scum.

I believe you, FWIW. (For anyone who asks me why I don’t know how to articulate it except to say that 99 times out of 100 that he does this, he ends up being town.)

To me as well. I don’t remember his scum game but this reads like his town game from a particular game where I was paranoid about him and I was totally wrong (it was the one where he kept going back and forth about killing me and I was begging him to).

@Kaiveran (for everyone else, I am not trying to belabor this issue, I have a specific question in response to his response to the back and forth about him), I don’t know you, I was asking if you were a sock. (Although I was on MU in 2016 or 2017, so it’s possible our paths crossed but I don’t remember you.)

Please describe your play style in terms of posting to me.

Specifically I want to know if you read the whole thread and then decide things to respond to, or respond as you go, or (like me, but I don’t know if anyone else does this), read the whole thread and then start responding backwards.

I rarely can identify any one players scum game vs town game. I swear I can sometimes tell when Meeko is up to something, though. I haven't seen anything yet.

This combined with the vote from earlier (which seems like a joke vote) screams that Vanta is blending in by announcing their decisions? Something smells fishy…

Just getting home from work, which was fun and half, nearly losing my job today.

Anyway, I see that the game has, in my opinion, finally "woken up" and we have other things to go on, even if they are similar to things I've already poked at.

But yeah, I can unvote you here, and you know, re-evaluate all things, old and new.

This explains why every time I posted a vote count in the last game the vote-counting robot started off with "Vanta Black has voted" --because I was starting the Day off with who left the kitchen in bold and blue (if blue was warranted) but I didn't use the word vote (and V-C robot didn't add a name)

This seems like a very specific question that you don't really care about the answer to. The reason it seems like that is because you want to know this about Kaiveran but you admit right there that you don't know this specific posting thing about anyone else. So what is the reasoning?

Now that you have pointed this out it does seem a bit of a strange question. I don't know how other people answer posts, I sometimes pick up something as I'm reading, at other times I read to the end and then post. I find that if I pick up on something when reading along and ask about a post I find it has already been answered a bit later on.

Could you please share with the class just one read, town or scum (no nulls), with whatever reasoning you can scrounge up.

The quality or strength of this read doesn't matter. It could be a brain read, a gut read, or even a wild guess. Literally. Don't give a single shit about how flimsy, specious or stupid your argument looks.

Just plunk down your bets. Say how you feel about a certain player, and explain why. If you were here and already explained it, quote or link the post you explained it in. If someone else explained it and you're just sheeping their suspicion/vote, point to that post and say why you find it convincing. Again, no wrong answers for that.

Just get something out there, everybody. Once everyone has that, everyone has a position on something that other players can agree or disagree with. And once we agree or disagree with other players on something, we can investigate those disagreements for further evidence on players' alignments. And with that, we can progress past the "noise" stage of D1 into something at least marginally productive.

I'll start: Meeko is town, for reasons I went into in my post immediately above.
It does help to read Meeko's posts carefully, he often comes up with things that others haven't seen but it is usually hidden inside a long post.

One person I have a niggle about is gnarlycharlie for voting for guiri about the 3P thing and he hasn't come back to say anything about it once it was pointed out that it does look as if there is more than one force that Town has to eliminate.

Do you agree that a scum Maha would come out and say he's a VT or that he might be telling the truth and you are voting for him anyway?

I guess that was the intent of the request, based on what little there is, take a stand, even if it's just based on gut or what someone else said, it's a conversation starting point and something to look back at later in the game. I caught a scum in a recent game doing exactly this.

Yes, I knew what I was getting into but still, there was some culture shock with the volume and posting style and I had zero thread pull, so having two correct scum reads D1 meant little as I was unable to convince others.

The latter, if he knew about any hidden gambling mechanism in this game, he couldn't have the VT role PM, as there's nothing mentioned there.

I'm guessing she's noticed something in post #38 and is waiting for the response before explaining herself.

Now that you have pointed this out it does seem a bit of a strange question. I don't know how other people answer posts, I sometimes pick up something as I'm reading, at other times I read to the end and then post. I find that if I pick up on something when reading along and ask about a post I find it has already been answered a bit later on.
I usually skim what I missed, in case there's been some major development - like I'm on the chopping block or a claim which I want to react to, and then go back and read post by post, asking/answering questions chronologically as I go.

Please describe your play style in terms of posting to me.

Specifically I want to know if you read the whole thread and then decide things to respond to, or respond as you go, or (like me, but I don’t know if anyone else does this), read the whole thread and then start responding backwards.

No, I am getting at something.

I’ll share it after I get his answer.

I have a very specific reason for asking this. (I need the answer for Kaiveran, not all of you.)

And strange does not mean scum.

Getting ready for work and late as usual but LightFoot, sending hugs and I hope they get to the bottom of it. You deserve a break.

Not exactly but part of that is part of it. I will share why but I want to see if/when he shows up first.

@Archangel
I do try to keep up on the whole thread, but I pick out things to respond to as I read, typically using multiquote. Of course, mentions and/or certain circumstances may cause me to look at things "out of order" occasionally.

The combination of my decreasing free time and the stubborn persistence (hell, even proliferation) of short-ass deadlines in the IM/UR sphere has unfortunately made this untenable in many cases, and with some difficulty I've adopted a more Real Timer approach for that milieu, relying on other players to cover the gaps for me. But here, with week-long cycles and a refreshingly leisurely pace, I feel relieved to be able to stretch my legs and do what comes naturally to me.

I may make a habit of playing here for this very reason. Maybe. Depends on if I can ever get used to blue being the default vanillager color instead of green. Blasphemy, I say.

What is meant by "the current state" and how would that lead you to post more than you usually would?

This combined with the vote from earlier (which seems like a joke vote) screams that Vanta is blending in by announcing their decisions? Something smells fishy…

I'm confused about "blending in." If someone is doing what everyone else is doing, what makes them scum-siding as opposed to the players who are doing the same thing?

I mean, if I could "package" what I want to say, in an easy to digest package, it would come at a great cost.

The cost of being able to find the nuggets in the first place.

I tell my co-workers, when I can tell that they have had enough of me for the day ::

"See, that's the thing, you get to go home, and get away from me, I'm stuck with me, 24/7 "

----

This is .... has gotten old already.

I mean, It's a lot of work for like, half a vote.
You will find your information, or you won't, and that causes you to vote Kaiverian, or not. This is how I mean "half vote".

We won't be able to "access" that information that you get in way shape or form. And, not that you would, but, how exactly would anyone else be able to verify that your results are as you intended when you started this ..... I hate to say it, witch hunt, and that those results haven't changed? Opportunist.

You are carving out something that ... no one can follow you on. Undoubtedly, after this, comes us asking you to trust you, win lose or draw on Kai. And it kinda..... It puts you above Kai, and I'm not sure I like that. Just on principle, you should not do that to a newcomer, or any player, frankly.

Well, that's interesting, because, I mean, I started off this post with that in my head, and I wanted to respond, obviously. I also wanted to put down a vote on AA, and well, the two merged here, and For The Record, I did .... Hopefully my reasoning for voting is clear. I am so close to saying that I feel like it is my clearest vote rationale post ever.
