Barney's interests included bowling, playing pool, poker, tinkering around in Fred's garage and playing golf. He is also a talented pianist and drummer.


Artemus Gordon



Ross Martin read a script when it was first given to him, then did a pen-and-ink drawing of the character he was going to play, down to the last detail, glasses, mustache, clothes, posture, shoes, et cetera. Then he brought the sketch to make-up artist Don Schoenfeld, and together they molded his face until it looked like the drawing.

I'm not really excited to vote for either of these. Both solid sidekicks, but neither is elite 8.

I'm where NAF is on this one; The Wild Wild West ended its run when I was only a few months old. I guess like The Flintstones it must have lived on in syndication because I do remember enjoying the theme and the opening animation, but the bottom line is that I watched The Flintstones a zillion times and don't think I've seen an episode of The Wild Wild West all the way through. I'm willing to believe that Artemus Gordon is a bitchin' sidekick but I'm surprised he's doing so well in the megapoll because I always kind of assume I'm in the dominant TV era cohort for this board.

I watched it in syndication in the 70s. I thought it was the only good Western TV show in fact. I really enjoyed it back then.

Same with Star Trek, I was much too young for run, but watched it over and over again in the 70s.
