Your Favorite Cryptid

I figure we've gotta do SOMETHING to hold the new guy's interest.

So let's try this: Which undiscovered and/or mythical creature do you like best?

My favorite cryptid? Probably Okapis. They were considered to be cryptids by Europeans until about 100 years ago. They're also close relatives of Giraffes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okapi
My favorite extinct critter is probably Thylacines (and I wonder where our @thylacine is and hope she's well and has a happy birthday next week). My favorite extinct birds are Passenger Pigeons. I think it'd be crazy cool if a relict population of Thylacines was discovered in the Australia area (it won't happen) but I probably wouldn't bring back passenger pigeons if given the chance.
But none of these were options so I voted for Mokele Mbembe. I read a story about them back in school days and was fascinated. None of the listed crytids exist and none ever did except maybe Mokele and in the unlikely event one of them shows up in reality, that's the one it'll be.

Okapis are a great choice.

Does Fenris count as one?

But given the choices, I voted for local boy, The Jersey Devil.

Mothman! Come on, there's even a statue of him. He's so cute.

I would recommend all of Redmond O'Hanlon's books - they are funny.

Last week, there was a zebra on the loose in Washington state and one of my friends there told me he has seen a t-shirt with Sasquatch riding a zebra.

Incidentally, the folks voting for Thunderbirds do know we're talking the weird, giant things that may or may not be pterodactyls, right?

Immaculately restored '69 Tbird with a 429 and the leather interior. First back seat I ever got laid in.

I do love me my Greys, and also Nessie has a special place in my heart, but the Greys win out. Much too awesome.

I voted for 'jersey devil' because that one is closest to me, and there was no 'wombat' option. Of course, no one doubts the existence of wombats, so they aren't 'cryptids'.

No one knows if drop bears are real. No one has ever survived an encounter to report back. Plenty of people have survived wombat encounters to report on the cubical shit, on the other hand.
