I really think I started the whole kerfuffle with Cad.
Noooo. I didn't do it purposefully. I just thought someone should tell that OP not to do that to his family members. I'm sure I was flagged..I was 2 minutes from catching my own warning and edited it. I feel awful about it. Not enough to ask for moderation.
Cads ok, he gets emotional and he wants real time responses. Not always possible.

Oh, I'm concerned about Kayaker too. I miss his posts.

Me too. I had a PM conversation with him about 4 months ago, which I initiated (based on my admiration for his food-related posts, which match my own sensibilities); it took him a long time to respond, but eventually he did provide a friendly response.

Eh, Cad has always been quite capable of kerfuffing on his own. If a mode as patient as What Exit told him to knock it off with the reports, he must have been making a boatload of reports over a long period of time.

What he and DrDumbth fail to realize/refuse to see is that it's not the number of reports, or their frequency. It's the signal-to-noise ratio, combined with frequency. If some random schlub who reports 10 posts per calendar quarter, and 9 of 10 are not worth the modes time, they'll still be fine The modes probably won't even remember the low S/N ratio. If another random schlub reports 10 times a week, but 9 of 10 are actionable [q.v. Running Coach and his spam reports], they'll be fine, too. When SC or DrD make 10 reports per week and fully half of them are utter shit, that's going to start annoying the modes.

I looked at his public profile and saw in the Recent Visitors box was a member named "NotARobot". They have no listing in the Members List, and when I clicked their name I was sent back to the start page. Now I don't see the name, despite several refreshes. Good thing I took a screen shot.

IIRC, "NotARobot" was a spammer from a little while back, who was probably trying to appear like a normal noob by reading and posting irrelevant things before starting to post their spam links. After they started, the banhammer came down and everything they had done prior to the ban was cornfielded. I'm not a mode, and don't have access to records that would indicate it, so just take that as something I surmised from what I could see.

Hmm... I'll investigate further with the info accessible to me if you know some non-mode tricks. If I don't get too drunk/stoned and forget to do it.

There’s no way that was your fault. This was an allegedly long pattern that eventually annoyed the modes enough to have had enough.

We had to do something similar here in the old days. We Noted/Warned one problematic user a bunch of times so she started making multiple reports a day asking why such and such posts were ok. She was eventually perma-boxed and then left on her own.

She disappeared about 3½ years ago from the Dope. Her last few threads were about finding another place to post. She was around a long time and overall a memorable poster though not really in a good way. But in her favor, she did go after Asshatee's anti-vaxx BS on the Dope. I never thought she was a troll, often a PIA, but not a troll. She was annoying all the way back on Mellophant also.

I kinda liked her, she was a fussbudget. I would speak up for her once in awhile. But then we swapped a couple peems where she got bitter at me for not taking her side on every crusade, and I backed away a little after that. I get the feeling there is a pretty big cauldron of rage behind it all.
