The IT Crowd
We just started watching this on BBC America (or is it KTEH? Can't remember). It's a little on the broad comedy side, but it's still a hoot. I've only seen one episode, but it seems to be about a small IT department, consisting of two geek guys and their female supervisor. The supervisor is played by the same woman who portrays Pauline, Doc Martin's fluff-brained receptionist.
There are nerd jokes aplenty, as well as Dilbert-esque commentary on the hypocrisy and greed of a modern corporation. The two geek IT guys get to chat about a lot of the same issues that 'Raffers like to bicker about, i.e., "why do women only like bastards" and "IT geeks tend to live in their moms' basements and do online dating". Huh - there isn't much difference between the continents! I'll have to watch some more episodes to confirm my thumbs-up on this show. |

OK, OK, I admit it. I played Jen for the first couple of seasons. They got someone else in after I quit.

Richmond
One of the characters on 'The IT Crowd' was based on me.
When the first series was being written, I worked for the production company, FremantleMedia, and a researcher came around to the IT department and spent quite a long time chatting to various people, including me. That's my little claim to fame. Goth friends went to see the second series being filmed, and were asked if they'd like to meet Noel Fielding, the actor who plays Richmond. One of them replied "Nah, it's alright - we know the guy his character was based on". PUT DOWN OR WHAT! ![]() |

"The United Queendom??? He can't say that" "All my preconceptions are being challenged and I'm loving it" "IT'S 'I LOVE WILLIES'" "Maybe he's only going out with you because you look a bit like a man" "Urrghh- It's set in the 80s" "Where's my copy of Heat?" "ACID" "Oh no- they have a toilet man" And of course, the reviews of the musical (on the poster): "Tolerable" "Not as long as other musicals" "The audience clapped" |

So, a big Cradle of Filth fan are we???
When I saw the Mighty Boosh live, someone in the audience shouted out "Richmond"- Noel Fielding rounded on him saying "Is that your thing? Going to comedy gigs and shouting out random towns in Surrey?" About 5 minutes later (and midway thru a sketch) he stopped and went "Oh, now I get it. Richmond was a guy I played in a thing". |

Some friends showed me The IT Crowd. I repaid them by giving them the silver box that contains the internet.

I love this show! I thought it'd be awful - it was recommended to me by a family member who has almost no sense-of-humour overlap with me - but I'm totally addicted.
