Well, see, I thought someone who was stupid was also ignorant - their stupidity is what made them ignorant, so there's no need to describe them as ignorant once you've called them stupid. People who are stupid have no choice, they are incapable of understanding something. People who are ignorant have the capability to understand something, but don't. This is worse, in my book, than not being able to comprehend something.

However, as you rightly point out, everyone's ignorant of something (or indeed many things).
