Yes. Not their best (that would be Close to the edge) but far better than many give it credit for. Genesis is still my favourite 70s prog band though.

Yes. I've got the album, too. Original vinyl that is. I need to download it someday as I haven't actually played any of my vinyl in years.

I thought I had this in my collection.

I'm listening to Relayer now to commemorate the thread.

I'm listening to it right now and I'm the only no vote. To me, it's OK, but not great. Agreed about Genesis.

Here's my favorite Yes albums in order:

Close to the Edge
Fragile
Going For the One
Relayer
Drama
90125
The Yes Album
Tales From Topographic Oceans

*I left off live and shitty albums.

I'm a big fan of Fragile, but I think I'd have to push The Yes Album and 90125 up higher in that list.

Art Rock, I like the Rick Wakeman period as well since Close and Fragile are my favourites.

Tales... you either love or hate it and I don't love it. I managed to see them live in the mid-80s during their 90125 tour.

I have a real hard time not putting Going for the One at the top.

I used to put all three discs of Yessongs onto the turntable to lull me to sleep at night. Still dig on the band after all these years but not a fan of 90125.

I had to pop on my headphones and turn on a Yes station in Pandora on my iPhone. First song up, It Can Happen. Fie to all the 90125 haters!

Uthy, 90125 is a hard sell to hardcore Yes fans but I like it more than some of their earlier albums. I don't be hatin'; I just don't be laudin'.

Yes, but...

...I don't listen to them anymore and don't really have a desire to. Same with a lot of the fusion jazz ( Larry Coryell, Al di Meola ) I was once fond of. Liked it, but have kind of lost my taste for it, without ever growing to actually dislike it.

I like The Revealing Science of God and Ritual. Don't often listen to the other two.

Right now I'm listening to Yesshows, which has live versions of Ritual and The Gates of Delerium with Patrick Moraz on keyboards.

IIRC the first Yes music I ever heard was an Old Grey Whistle Test special in '75 showing the second hour of a concert at Shepherds Bush. Don't remember what played. The first track I can remember hearing was Close to the Edge from Yessongs, a couple of weeks later.

Saw them in October 1978 at Wembley.

I think my favourite studio album may be Magnification, then the classic early '70s stuff,. But I liked their early live stuff too.

I feel terrible, I've never listened to this album. The last CD of theirs that I bought was Open Your Eyes and I wasn't crazy about it. I read up on it and it was fairly well received. Guess I need to buy it. Anyone else familiar with Magnification?

Me. I first heard it in the car when Merestil Haye picked me up at the airport. I like it a lot.

Fragile remains my favorite Yes record. It was the first time I heard Chris Squire.

On a related note, Squire's 1975 solo record Fish Out Of Water is quite good.

I was a bit of a Yes fan - saw the Relayer tour with the OTT stage set - and borrowed a copy almost as soon as it came out (I was a poor schoolboy at the time). All us prog fans wanted to like it, but only a few of us actually did, and I wasn't one of them... Not listened to it since, I'm afraid!

If you want a hard sell to Yes fans, try Drama. The only album without John Anderson. Sounds like blasphemy, but it's an excellent album. A good bit heavier than traditional Yes. All the songs are great but Machine Messiah and Into the Lens really stand out.

A fan who's seen them in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 00's.

Always found something in each incarnation to keep my interest.
I have to say that the continuation minus Anderson is a bit suspect, but then again I enjoyed the Drama album and subsequent tour. I guess I'll pen them in for a ticket sometime this year to keep my decade streak alive.
