Good stuff. Thanks. Rigs, I'm actually reading Bryson right now, almost done. He did a modified thru-hike. A section hike like mine will take a dozen years, at a week or so per year. It's a great read, agreed.

Kid and Jag, thanks for the info on pack fit. I hadn't read that far into pack specifics. I have done some reading on the other things. Great advice. We have a great practice trail here in Southern Indiana called Knobstone that is known by AT hikers as a rough estimate of many moderate sections of the AT, without the same significant elevation changes.

I've been doing some rugged trails locally. You're right, though, ain't nothin till I get that pack on. It'll make a real woman of me, for certain.
