They're playing here tonight, couldn't go though. I've heard good things about the new album (3 discs? did I hear that right?)

Yes, three discs. I've barely scratched the surface of it so can't comment on anything but the single so far.

I used to like Thrush Hermit too and I liked his last album so I'll probably pick up this one. He's consistently good but three discs, wow, that's ambitious.

Deliberately. I live in an old house with no central and terribly drafty windows, so running a 220 unit all summer is really, really expensive. I've installed blackout curtains, and I've got fans and frozen 2 liter bottles for the bunnies. In theory I can open the windows and run the fans all night, then get up early and shut them and trap the nighttime coolness in for most of the day. I'll turn the A/C on if the indoor temperature exceeds 90 degrees, but I'm hoping that won't be until August, which is the hottest month around here.

"Dirty Willy," Lords of Acid. And co-workers speaking Japanese. Something about the bloody hair-length inspections. Again.

I haven't read the thread, but it was the first time I saw it when I was actually listening to something.

John Mellencamp. I have a hard drive filled with rock-ish pop music; it's what I listen to when I'm posting or writing. I fills my brain with good vibes, makes it easier to write.

Otras by David Reeves; it's ambient analog electronica from the early '90s. Not bad, but I think I prefer Len Del Rio's work.

Bill Callahan - Sometimes I Wish We Were an Eagle
This is the guy who previously sung under the name Smog. Thren, like your picks. I've been listening to Santogold a fair bit lately and think her album kicks arse. Based on a couple of your choices, I think you should check out Andrew Bird, especially the album Armchair Apocrypha. |

Long Days by David & the Citizens, my current favorite song of the moment. I've been listening to a lot of David & the Citizens lately, as well as Charlotte Martin, Manic Street Preachers, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, Muse, Lady GaGa, Scissor Sisters and Pearl Jam (my favorite band going on 6 years).
