With claims of "Ark" from Swammi (confirmed by death), McGinty, Lightfoot, SisterCoyote and Bufftabby, we have an issue...

1. Bufftabby got no result on Lightfoot N1, and vice-versa. Both investigations cannot have been tampered with so it's safe to say that they do not share surnames.
2. McGinty investigated Lightfoot N2 and got no result. Since McGinty got a result on Swammi N1, Lightfoot must not share surnames with McGinty and Swammi OR the scum spent their sole investigation blocking this one
3. Lightfoot investigated SisterC last night and got no result, again presumably different last name OR the scum spent their sole investigation blocking this one

Any way, the Ark group is interesting as Lightfoot appears to have no potential pair from the current claimants: someone is lying about a result, they attracted the only scum investigation - which is curious itself, or there's another hidden Ark...

I'm wavering. I think you make a good point but I was hoping to hear from some of the others too.

If texcat IS scum then it was quite a good ploy, jump in as soon as someone has revealed a name, then fake claim a town investigation on someone. Bill being killed N0 would tie in to that neatly since the last thing a scum Texcat wants is lots of people running around with the same name as her.

There's certainly been a lot of activity in the Ark group:

Claimed Arks: Heterometrus swammerdammi, Mrs. McGinty, Sister Coyote, bufftabby, Lightfoot

Mrs. McGinty investigated Heterometrus N1, got a Town result
Swammi investigated Mrs. McGinty N2, but got NK'd before he could share his result
Sister Coyote investigated bufftabby N2, got a Town result
Lightfoot has been investigated by both bufftabby and Mrs. McGinty with no result

The two most suspicious characters in this play are Mrs. McGinty and Sister Coyote. If Mrs. McGinty is scum, she could have lied about her investigations of both Swammi and Lightfoot -- the scum would have had no choice but to NK Swammi to cover her tracks once the idea of reciprocal investigations was proposed. Similarly, a scum Sister could have fake-claimed an investigation result on bufftabby to try to snuggle up to her and make up for her late name claim. Obviously, bufftabby should investigate Sister toNight. Scum may have hoped to keep Sister alive with a bufftabby NK, so if that happens I'd argue we lynch Sister toMorrow regardless.

I'd point out that reciprocal investigations were an obvious - and perhaps the only sensible - move, and that any half-competent scum would have seen it coming.

On the other hand, with Swammi looking quite clearly townie, and also being highly active in organising everyone else, it might still have seemed a good idea to claim a successful scan before bumping him off. Of course, I know that that's not the case, and that the scum will have seen me as potential lynch-bait today, what with me being a relative unknown around here and having given what was a completely unexplained and apparently nonsensical breadcrumb.

I saw all of this coming, which is why I posted my explanation as soon as possible this morning. Indeed, the only reason I waited that long was in case I was mistaken and the scum chose to kill someone else for some reason I'd failed to anticipate.

Should 'the most convoluted breadcrumb ever' push me down the suspect list or up? That's for y'all to decide. I'll argue my innocence to the last, but I've been around the block enough times not to throw a hissy fit at anyone who votes against me on this basis. All I'd ask is that people read my posts as they're written, and don't allow confirmation bias to make them think I'm 'flinching', 'squirming', 'flailing', or 'panicking'. Even if I was scum, I wouldn't be doing that (most likely, I'd hardly have been posting at all - where is Visorslash, btw?)

Gnarly has been in an investigation with 4 out of 5 options. His only option left is Giraffe.
