Anyone not see that coming? Time for me to explain my breadcrumbs...

So, you might ask, what does any of that mean? The answer is that it refers to the mention of the words General Pinochet in the episode of the classic British sitcom Bottom which features Richie's birthday party. This mention comes as Richie's flatmate, Eddie, backtracks on his previous scorn towards Richie's blatantly forged (and repeatedly reused) birthday cards, including one from General Pinochet and another from...

And, indeed, that is the question for anyone doubting I knew my name on day one: how could I fake something like that...

(Here's a link to the script. The line is near the end of the first scene, if anyone wishes to check it.)

I am not going to chew on it- I don't get the references if someone else does then fine- did you leave any other clues that someone on this side of the pond would get?

As with Scáthach's investigation results (or lack thereof) of BillMc, I think it would be better to simply confirm that I did investigate Swammerdammi as planned.

Mrs. McGinty, I must say: I do believe that is the most convoluted breadcrumb I have ever seen.

You don't need to get the references - I linked to them. The whole point was to choose ones that were obscure but demonstrable.

Scathach, now might be a good time to share your N1 result on Bill. Are there three Ito Freeholds or three Ito Cowpens among Bill, Zuma, Texcat and yourself?

I got no result on Gnarly.

With three names in the open, can I ask anyone else who posted a hint or clue on N0, D1 or N1 to say so? I have:
Ito: Bill, Zuma, Texcat, and Scathach
Ark: Swammi, McGinty, Lightfoot and Bufftabby
Rip: Guiri, Gnarly, Giraffe, Dizzy and Chaos I think

That would be 13 players "knowing" their first name at the start of the game. Scathach and Dizzy didn't leave any unique clue but still made an effort. Are our scumbags SisterC, Visor, Colby and Mahaloth? Or have we confirmed that scum started with cover names?

Vote Colby

3rd time's a charm.

Well, you are the only one who can tell if it´s useful, I thought there may be a chance to catch a scumbag. There are two known Itos and two claimed Itos. We know that Zuma and Bill were not a match so we assume you must match either Zuma or Bill, and TexCat must match either Zuma or Bill however yesterDay TexCat claimed she matched you, how is that possible? Your result toDay would seem to confirm that she is not your match. There are several possibilities:
- you did not match Bill, and therefore are a Cowpen, TexCat is a Freehold and lied about matching you
- you matched Bill, and therefore are a Freehold, TexCat is a Cowpen and lied about matching you
- you did not match Bill, but match TexCat, and possibly Zuma, but your investigation was blocked
- there are 2 or more other unclaimed Itos out there who provide the missing matches for Bill and Zuma

You can make some sense of this, how do you explain Zuma and Bill having different last names while TexCat claimed to match yours yesterday with no other claimed Itos and a failed investigation last Night? With just what you've shared, it looks suspicious, with your N1 result, you may have stronger evidence...

Lightfoot, all i'm saying is that it seems that scum knowing town's names doesn't have a great upside unlike for town. i don't see what's complicated about that.

Guiri,
You've got all kind of bad assumptions in there. What makes you think that Scathach and I have to either be a Freehold or a Cowpen. Why couldn't we be Steamers, or Smiths for that matter? And if you start assuming that I lied about my results on Scathach, you should also assume that my name is not Ito. Your logic is not.

I think there is absolutely no reason for Scathach to give up her results. It only helps scum.

With so few results all around, I'm thinking there may be more last names than first names and it's looking more and more like not everyone has a match. The Rips have investigated two nights with no results?

Well, if you lied about your result yesterDay, you are scum, end of story, no need to worry about your first name. As for every Ito having a different last name, that would basically make a joke of all our attempts to coordinate investigations. If each player doesn´t have at least one match, we're wasting valuable time.

As for the Rips, with 6 or 7 claimed players, there are still multiple untested combinations but I agree that 0 matches out of 11 attempts is pretty crappy.

By my count, we have seven claimed Rips:

guiri, gnarlycharlie, Giraffe, Chaos, Colby11, Dizzymrslizzy, Mahaloth

On N1, we had the following Rip-Rip investigations:

Giraffe --> guiri, no result
Dizzy --> gnarly, no result
guiri --> Dizzy, no result
gnarly --> Chaos, no result
Colby + Chaos --> Giraffe, no result possible (if true)

On N2, we had the following Rip-Rip investigations:

Guiri --> Gnarly, no result
Gnarly --> Mahaloth, no result
Mahaloth --> Giraffe, no result
Giraffe --> Chaos, no result
Chaos --> Dizzymrslizzy, no result
Dizzymrslizzy --> Colby11, no result
Colby11 --> Guiri, no result

If Rip has three paired names, it seems highly unlikely that we wouldn't have a successful investigation yet. This makes me think we either have fewer name pairs than that and/or some scum are hanging out in our midst, borking up our odds.

The three claimed Rips I'm most dubious of are Chaos, Colby11 and Mahaloth. Their crumbs came late enough that they could have figured out the name from the previous clues, and they have generally been hanging back.

Colby is by far the most suspicious to me. Looking back at Day 2, Colby11 waited until Chaos had already produced a null investigation result on me before coyly claiming just to have no result, before eventually saying he also investigated me. Looking at Night 1, there were multiple posts discussing who was investigating me, it's hard to see how he could have been paying any attention at all and missed that.

I think Colby's plan was to give as little investigation information as possible to avoid painting himself into a corner, name-wise, but if pressed just jump onto a null investigation and say he got confused. Had he claimed a result on someone no one had given results for, he risked being caught in a lie should someone else have investigated them and gotten a Town result.

Everything about his game so far smacks of scum trying not to get busted. Even his protest at getting votes toDay stinks. I think a Town player would expect votes based on everything that's gone down so far.

although I do agree with the Colby voters I will put another horse in this race

'e changed camps in the name claim game and the 'clue' was after it was nearly obvious ( Swammi said he had figured it out already )

'e initially was going to investigate an Ito (Bill)
then said 'e was not an Ito
then said 'e had an R
investigated a player ( assumed) with an R and no I-T-O
In the N1 thread post #2 'e asked for a list of name claims- seemed scummy to me then .

now claims to be Rip

There are so many claiming Rip I wager there be scum in there somewhere

Meh. It's clear that you're still not reading my post, and have no intention of following up the references. If you want to lynch me to save yourself that small effort, go right ahead. Otherwise, stop wasting my time asking me to repeat stuff I've already posted.

The song references General Pinochet (it's about the legacies of right-wing dictatorships in general, but he's the main source of inspiration; my singer started writing the song during a visit to Chile), whose name is mentioned directly after 'the guys from the Ark Royal' in that sitcom episode I breadcrumbed.

The truth is, though, you don't need to fully understand my line of thought in putting the breadcrumbs together. You just need to appreciate how insanely difficult it would have been to cook up something so convoluted and yet so specific if I didn't already know my name before breadcrumbing.

OK, I looked.

I said I wanted to investigate "3 letters with R + one of I,T,O", which fit my name of Rip.

However, all the others were taken, so I went with "3 letters with R" and chose Mrs. Mcginty.

It all checks out as far as I can see, although I admit I have been wrong recollecting without looking it up toDay.

Might as well explain my crumb.

Ever heard of Bruce Almighty, it's a movie.

They made a sequel, Evan Almighty.

What was Evan supposed to do?

Build an Ark.

Please lynch Colby!!! There's no way a townie with any interest whatsoever in finding scum would do this twice, especially one who claims to be increasing activity.

N1 he messed with Giraffe's investigation despite all the discussions about avoiding double up, N2 he happily goes along with an investigation of and by players he knows will not give a result. And he claims to be attempting to be more active!

Colby, what's the Kung fu fighting reference then? If Bruce is a reference to the Ark?

Yeah, if you're like me, you got "Lee" out of all that. If the clue were "Evan", I could buy "Ark" as the intent.

Colby admits to completely screwing up investigations both Nights. He gave a clue that could really mean anything at all. I really don't think Colby knows his name at all.

I'm pretty comfortable reprising my vote from yesterDay.
