Need advice on a Crimmit prezzy for the missus

She's difficult to buy for sometimes. There aren't many things she really really wants or needs. But I like to make my gifts to her special, since we've been soulmates since college, way back in 19mumblemumble.

We're going out to do shopping this afternoon for a couple of hours.

One of the things she told me she'd really like is some diamond stud earrings. She's never had any (which kind of dumbfounds me, but there ya go), and she'd really like a pair. No one else but me could get these for her, obviously.

She wouldn't be put off if I took her to the jewelry store and asked her to pick out two or three pairs she'd be happy with, and then get her one of the styles. I think.

I'd prefer to surprise her, but jewelry is such a personal thing, I don't want to get her a style she wouldn't care for. So this seems like the next best thing. She'll know she's getting them, but won't know precisely which ones of the selections she indicated would be her gift.

I dunno.
