What'd ya get in the Yankee Swap?

We had our office holiday swap today. $20 limit.

I bought a holiday-themed box that is shaped like a Chinese food container, filled it with some chocolates and a $15 gift card to a coffee place.

I opened up a photo album and traded it for a Snuggie (yes, really. My kid wants one). But then someone after me took that and instead I got:

I got a Margarita pitcher. We did a White Elephant, and I lost 2 other gifts that I wanted, but I'm happy with this now.

We had a good time - except for one cheapo shitty ass who wrapped a vendor sample and gave it as a gift. The person who received it was not happy.

We didn't do a Yankee Swap, just a Secret Santa exchange. I got a gift card to Starbucks. Meh. I don't hate Starbucks, but as I was telling another coworker (out of earshot of the gifter) I have to pass 2 of my favorite independent coffee shops to get to the closest Starbucks. Not that Starbucks is far (less than 10 blocks, and there are 4 of them within reasonably short walking distance) but better coffee shops are closer. Oh well.

I gave a soon-to-be graduating with a degree in Interior Design coworker some fancy gel pens and assorted stationary and magnets in a pattern I thought she would like. She's a list-maker and very organized, so I hope she liked it. She definitely liked the pens.

However, we had a very strange gift exchange. Somebody got one of the hosts a flask and a ring that has a bottle opener on it, one of the cooks got a blow-up doll, and another cook got a whip and some duct tape.

Our Bunco group did this. I got a very nice wavy-glass serving tray, which is similar enough to make a set with a HUGE one my daughter made for me last Christmas.

The gift I brought was a cute bracelet of red beads painted with Santas and snowmen.

Haven't had a Yankee Swap yet this year.

First Christmas party was just a plain grab bag, and I got a "Mighty Hands of Love" nativity scene, 2 kitchen towels and a book: "To Live is Christ Day by Day".

Second Christmas party was that "sit in a circle and pass left and right story" game, and I got scented body lotion.

We had a handmade Yankee swap at work--everybody had to bring something handmade. I made up a basket with some jams and candy and a couple of fabric produce bags. In return I got some notecards with watercolor paintings.

We're having ours tomorrow. Mr Rebo is giving 18 rolls of quality toilet paper. I'm giving a very nice ceramic piggy bank with 100 pennies in it.
