This is an extremely overcompressed update of what's happened to me in the past seven years:

I started a new job in July 2017.

The first week there, my mother passed away after battling cancer for two years to the week.

August 2018 we had our third kid.

June 2019 I started my current job.

Fall 2019 the older two kids got into Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. I got volunteered as Den Leader.

Covid shut everything...

Apropos of nothing, I recently remembered a math problem in high school. Or more to the point, I remembered that I was unable to explain why my solution worked.

Given two concentric circles; the larger has radius r₁ = 1,000,000 (units are optional), and the smaller has radius r₂ of a similarly large value. Also given is the length of a chord line of the larger circle that is tangent to the smaller circle. Find the area between the two circles.

Blogging so I don't overdo baby talk in the threads.

Snorkle Maiden had her two-month well-baby checkup yesterday. She is growing at a fairly constant rate, as per birth, one-month, and two-month stats, of one inch and one pound every two weeks.

She is now wearing 6-to-9 month size jumpsuits and is outgrowing size small sleep-sacks.

The DC Metro system has a firm rule, posted in every bus and every subway car: Eating or drinking are illegal in the vehicles and stations. Transit police periodically cracks down on this rule, including arresting schoolkids for eating French fries.

Yesterday on the subway I saw someone drinking out of a travel mug. My rule, from the years I used commuter rail: No stench? No mess? No problem. So drink and let drink, I say!

It's one thing to point and laugh at OpalCat in BYB. Her recent manic posting makes her an obvious target, especially with her pushing into every thread that she can, "Hey! I'm a vegetarian!"

But this week, walking through the gaping holes in her web site permissions and linking to the photos there -- that's just too much.
