Swimmy is either part bat or Australian. Her favorite thing to do is arch her back and hang upside down and look around at the world. I suppose that's what comes of spending almost 5 months staring mostly at the ceiling.

She's started on solid foods and hoovers down baby fruits and oatmeal like a champ. She hasn't figured out that not all food comes in a continuous flow like milk does, so while we reload the spoon she squaks angrily.

Swimmy is rapidly outgrowing her newborn clothes. Some of these clothes have been worn by all three girls, because a) they don't wear them very long and b) it's not like they get worn out, what with the kid just lying around in them. The tiny pink gowns with built-in mittens bring back such sweet memories.

So I put them away in a spare drawer for now.
Because we don't need to keep them anymore.

We. . . don't need newborn clothes. . . ever again.

Swimmy is 7wks old now. She's cooing and smiling more, and more obviously comfortable being in the world. That sounds a little strange, but it's the best way I can think of to describe it. She's less startled by little things. Most of the time she calms down immediately on being picked up. She doesn't fuss for most diaper changes. She's awake more and looking around, trying to figure the whole "world" thing out.

It took me three weeks to finally get over the feeling...

. . . it is growing into the couch. I made dinner tonight just to be vertical without a tit-monkey on my lap. I ask Husband to take over snuggling, and he does, and I can't stay away from her anyway. I get all anxious and need to have her back with me in short order.

These days - I know from past experience - they are never ending and at the same time so very fleeting.
