It's Pretty Empty in Here...
We need more stupid threads in the good ol' GBB part of the boards.
Then again, I realize how some people's lives aren't as batshit insane as mine is. Or rather, how I perceive mine is. ![]() Here's how this'll work: if anything stupid happened to you, but wasn't stupid enough to make a whole entire thread for, just throw it on in here. It doesn't even have to be stupid, just something that would usually go in GBB, I guess! Now you won't feel bad for complaining about ever single thing anymore! At least not here, in this little thread, that is. I guarantee you, if you complain as much as you will do here, you'll probably get a few "Oh, shut up, Billy!"s, and maybe an occasional "Where's the off switch on this thing!" ![]() Last edited by Senpai; 22nd August 2015 at 12:42 PM. |

But we already have a mini-bitch thread. Not that I disagree we could always use a few more threads and all--so I say go ahead and post something batshit insane because hey, it's Saturday and I'm breathing smoke and it's making my head ache and I'm bored.

Today it's involuntary smoke from forest fires in her area. Loshan's more intimately involved with the fires. She's breathing it because there's nothing else to breathe.
I just wangled enough room into the schedule to take a half hour nap. If I hurry. |

It's not even hot but I have the a/c on trying to filter out some of the particulates. Mostly our wind goes from west off the ocean to the east over the Cascades, but our second most common wind pattern is when it comes down the Columbia Gorge toward the ocean. Since the Okanogan is almost completely on fire, and the Columbia runs through the Okanogan, it's funnelling smoke like a second giant river on top of the actual one made of water. And it sucks.

That's a cool map, I've seen it before--and right now it's giving me a headache to see the wind currents. Another cool site is this NASA satellite site, this view has the fires shown as red dots and you can see the smoke plumes pointing right at Portland. It's hazy orange out there and the air quality is gross. I have so much sympathy for what loshan's been going through--at one point one of the big fires was only a few miles from her with red flag warnings for flying embers nonstop. She went down to Spokane yesterday with some donated money and bought a crapload of sports drinks, socks, grab 'n go food, chapstick, lotion and other comfort items to go to the fire camps. The governor called for civilian support to fight the fires and got over 3000 volunteers. We have our share of assholes up here but when shit gets real everyone drops their baggage and works for what's important--saving lives, protecting others and fighting a common enemy. There are no libertarians on a fireline, y'know?

I'm in no danger, but I do have friends and family up in Washington I'm worried about, loshan is one and also Darmund lives up there too, although he's been on Facebook letting everyone know nothing's going on near him at the moment.
What's really pitiful right now is that everyone who's had to evacuate has had to leave their animals behind. Dogs and cats can be taken along in the car, but horses, cows, goats, llamas and the like can't be so easily moved and darned few country folk have a trailer big enough to transport all their animals, not to mention that there's no place to put them if they did nor food to feed them. So they just get turned loose--people have learned to put their phone numbers in Sharpie on the hooves of their animals in hopes they can get them back eventually. In addition to the domestic animals the wildlife is stressed and being forced out of their normal areas into smaller and smaller areas of unburned land to compete with the ones that already live there. The bears have been on the run and it can get hazardous when stressed out bear mamas run into stressed out evacuees. The loss of food and habitat means a shitty winter and a lot of dead wildlife this winter too. ![]() I really hate fire. The only good side is that these fires are naturally caused by conditions and lightning--we haven't had any confirmed reports of human caused fires since Fourth of July. That makes it easier--we don't have to be pissed off at some asshole fucking it up for everyone, it's just Mother Nature flexing her muscles. |

Well, I hope they stay safe. And along with Mother Nature deciding to go ape shit, the poor animals that'll get left in the wake of the flames I suppose is the circle of life as well... However it's still really fucking sad and just, eugh...
![]() I feel bad now. All I get here is a tornado warning every few months. And back home, even less so. ![]() |

This video just got posted up on Facebook. Holy fucking shit--I sure hope we don't lose any more firefighters, three is way too many. This vid sure shows why it happens though--although this is not of the current fire, it's the kind of thing we're dealing with up here.
ETA: Here's a video of the Twisp fire, this was two days ago. |

Peace to the families of the firefighters, all of them.
I haven't had anything weird or unusual to me, lately. Except one bad but short panic attack on Thursday. Oh, and I found a measuring cup in the Britta pitcher reservoir. How did that get there. Oh, one of the cats started walking backwards and speaking Latin, but that's probably nothing. |

Oh yeah, tomorrow I gotta go to the Social Security place to get interviewed. Turns out there's something that they do where if you have a disability or mental illness that'll impair your ability to go to work, or do normal everyday things, they'll give you a monthly check. At least I think it's monthly. So, tomorrow I go to see if I qualify... Which I have a good feeling that I will.
Then after that I got Japanese class. I've gotten to the point where there's no english in class unless you really dunno what to say... So, I'd say that's pretty awesome. ![]() |

Don't get your hopes up. You have to be really incapacitated to get on permanent disability. You should expect the focus to mostly be about getting you out in the world and independent, especially as young as you. Later after much counselling if two shrinks both agree you can't be helped by therapy and happy pills then you might get partial disability.

Today, I remembered to keep the cap to a recently emptied bottle to use on a full bottle that was missing it's cap, but had the foil seal intact. I've also finally, finally remembered while there was no reason not to to empty the pop fridge and carry it outside to defrost. It sits on the back side of the kitchen counter facing the living room, so I'm also using the opportunity to play Chinese puzzle like those sliding panel number games with all the stuff on the countertops and get to surfaces that haven't seen the light of day in years. My sandals reek. I basically lived in them for a week on the road, and even though I washed them and my feet every night they got a little manky. So I scrubbed them with soap and hot water and let them dry. Nope, still stinks. Next I soaked them overnight in a bucket of water with 1/4 cup of bleach. After they drained I put them on the shoe dryer and damn if they didn't still stink. WTF? Now they are back in the bucket with a whole cup of bleach. If that doesn't do it I'm donating them to science.

Wow, that 'interview' was hell. Absolute hell. They told us this interview would be like... Asking me questions, and me answering them. Questions like, 'Do you think your mental impairment and anxiety would hinder your ability to find a job?' Stuff like that.
Nope. I only had to be there to sign paperwork. We spend a half hour waiting, and then another hour and a half having my mom answer questions that shouldn't have been relevant to anything. Not to mention she left to go talk to her coworkers about 6 times. Not to mention a few of those times were just to talk casually with her officemates. ![]() I was so fucking hateful and pissed off I wanted to punch her in the throat. This is not gunna be my last time going to Social Security... I just hope I don't have to do it again anytime soon. |

I just saw something cool and weird. The control for the old man's chair fell into the wastebasket. It has large green glowing arrows on it, and when I turned out the lights they lit up the wastebasket from the inside. It looked like a 50s movies effect for eerie radiation. I left it in there.

Llama drama is all new and clunky as hell. Ed and I used it for a while, but it didn't catch on. It's the old 'no one logs on, because they don't see anyone and don't visit again. It's also infested with bots that don't say anything. of course when I hung out there earlier to start something I was just being a creep and a loser. So, it seems I jinx chat. Anyway, it's not empty, it's full of bots.

Dunno. I've had it happen with bad/strong perfume/cologne and things as innocuous as a banana peel (I napped too close to the remains of lunch and woke up with a headache). Fortunately most are easy triggers to avoid.
What I hate most about the bleach smell is its tendency to linger on my hands after contact. I hate having my hands smell like anything, even if it's a "clean" smell, and the bleach smell doesn't wash off. Lemon juice helps. Mostly I try to wear gloves when handling anything sodium hypo. |

Strong scents give me headaches. I love perfume, and still wear it even though it does give me headaches, but bleach and alcohol is the worst.
