What's lamer? Lame people or the lamers who bitch about them?
So I spent some time over at the snackpit today because I've never actually looked at it and had no idea what all the fuss was about, and once I worked out how it was supposed to function had an... interesting time reading.
If I understand it it's a place where people can laugh at/bitch about the contents of the Dope and all its offspring boards. Running through pretty much every post that lambasts another poster (who are often described using a nickname, probably so that someone can't go there and search for posts on themselves) is a undercurrent of superiority. I mean, you can't screed against others and call them self righteous/hypocritical/annoying/stupid/retarded/trollish/whatever if you don't think you're better than them, can you? And let's not forget that this is all behind a screen of cowardice... I mean, anonymity. So the people writing these posts are obviously so secure in their superiority they're willing to stand by everything and anything they say. Or not. Is this about right or have I missed something? Sure, the solution is not to go and read it again (don't worry, won't be making that mistake twice) but I'm genuinely confused as to why it's better to be the kind of person who goes to some hidden board to bitch facelessly rather than actually, you know, own your own opinions, than be the kind of people they bitch about. ![]() |
