Once again trump is failing to use even the smallest portion of his brain. With sentencing just 6 or so weeks away, it’s a terrible idea to rant publicly about your innocence and how unfair the judicial system is. The judge gets to consider things like how he violated the gag order multiple times, how he won’t accept that he’s guilty as a matter of law. Also lack of remorse will play against him. His refusal to accept any blame for any wrongdoing is another factor working against him at sentencing as is his constant blaming of the corrupt system and even President Biden.

I am dancing to the fire gods that this will all happen, but my reasonable ego-mind tells me that the worst that will befall him is house arrest, with multiple (and possibly recurring) fines slapped on him for breaking any imposed rules or sanctions, which will probably be paid by the GOP and private donors. The expected appeals, plus upcoming trials in Florida, Georgia and DC will unfortunately keep him in the media spotlight, so there'll be plenty more ramblings and outbursts. I lean towards Biden is going to win over Trump, but I wouldn't call it a sure thing. But to be fair I was nervous the final weeks of 2016 and 2020 so I seem to lean pessimistic. I guess ever since the 2000 Bush over McCain shocked and surprised me so much.

Obama was that rare very positive figure and a great campaigner. I only actively campaigned for two candidates, Obama and Reagan back in 1984. (Yes the shameful truth is that I was a young Republican.) Oddly the last Republican I vote for, for President. I vote Bill the Cat in 88, some 5th party candidate in 1992, Clinton in 1996 and Nader in 2000. I held my nose in 2004 and voted Kerry, but Obama I campaigned for.
