Whenever there's a high-profile rape story in the news, I end up avoid the Dope for awhile because ugh. Then I'll read opinion pieces, news story comments, and Twitter and I always end up checking back to the SDMB because sadly, so many places are even worse. I mean, they have 1-3 people I know will refuse to believe it, a bit of victim blaming, and then tons of people arguing with the few people that think women are always asking for it/84% of all rape claims are made up by vindictive whores/famous and powerful men don't rape because they can have any woman they want. That's still less upsetting than the number of people outside of the Dope bubble that think those things and worse.

It's just depressing, I guess. Especially since no matter where you go online, you end up having to choose between Team Women are Whores and Team Women Are Saints. I end up spending a lot of time searching for pictures of puppies.
