Let me just write things up here, while withholding the two other account names (which is the whole point).
I had an old account, registered in November of 2014, which I used regularly, until my ex-girlfriend had access to my computer and read that I had written about my problems with her. She knew the website and knew I'm always on it, so I decided to just discard that old account and create a new one, which I did in February 2015. The same thing happened again, but with a different person, and I've recently abandoned that account and created a third, just a few days ago.
Once that third account has been created, I received a message from Idle Thoughts (on the second account) asking me who the third account belong to. I said it belonged to someone else and asked him how he traced it to me, and he said he checked the IP address. I said this was an invasion of my privacy, and he said he thought I was a sock (never mind that my total number of posts on the first two accounts combined did not exceed 184, out of which less than 25 were new threads created over a year and a half, and never mind that I had not made a single post using the most recent account).
What Idle Thoughts did was probably link up the accounts and ban me on socking basis; he banned my IP address.
I am an extremely private person, and I prefer that no one I know personally sees my posts here or anywhere else. It's no one else's business. I had never at any point used two accounts simultaneously to make a post or comment or another; never behaved in any way that would make me a sock suspect.
I prefer not to mention my old account names for this very reason: I don't want whoever gets access to my computer to read my posts.
Idle Thoughts was extremely intrusive and a little bit creepy in the way he approached the matter.
If I am contacted by an admin, I am ready to provide my old account names to prove everything I say (including the post about the ex-girlfriend, and everything else).
