How Will You Watch the Election?
As for me, I expect the election to be settled when I wake up on Wednesday. Given time zones, California will not close until the middle of my day. I will follow it on my computer at work.
What do you plan to do? Watch at home and drink heavily? Watch party with friends? When do you think it will be settled? (I would bet Ohio would put it away for one or the other.) |

With a handle of Tito's vodka and the TV on PBS, the computer at CBSN. I haven't decided on the drinking game yet.

I'll be watching the BBC coverage of it all.

I'm sure someone will mention who won on Wednesday.

They're having a council meeting on election night?

I won't have any time to watch the election. I'll be too busy reprogramming the voting machines. The outcome depends on how much the candidate donates to my favorite charity, me.

Yeah, second Tuesday of every month. If we were also having a city election, the meeting would be postponed, but no city election this year.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. so the council meeting shouldn't be a problem. The mayor probably voted absentee -- he works really long hours. Only one council member works full-time. The rest of them are self-employed or retired. They're all Trump supporters anyway, so I'm not concerned if they don't make it to the polling place because of the meeting. |

Probably this, but I'll alternate with spitting invective/cursing roundly.
The whimpering comes much, much later. (in reality, I took the day off and have a doctor's appointment, so I'll do that and maybe do some art work or just enjoy not running to work). |

I've vowed to skip the armchair quarterbacking the day of the election and afterwards. The relentless ads, yawping talking heads and general level of hysteria over this election have just worn me down. It's toxic and I've overdosed. I'll vote early Tuesday morning then unplug.
Toward that end, I deliberately stockpiled some recorded shows and some good books to read instead. |

I have a town board meeting about 20 miles out that I have to cover, should take me up to about 8 p.m., then I'm racing back to Dem HQ here in town to get some reaction to what should be pretty much decided by then; I'll file that and then start drinking with the Democrats, either to drown our sorrows or celebrate the win.

I dunno. I have to get up by three the next morning, so I shouldn't stay up long enough to learn anything. Probably just as well.

We've also stockpiled some shows and movies to watch. Voted the day my ballot came 2 weeks ago, and have been/will actively avoid the media circus.
I told my husband that we should check in every so often to see if we're going up in flames. He asked "real or figurative flames?" and I said "Yes." |

More 'serious' and TLDR answer than above... I'll stick mostly with NBC but I'll hop around the four broadcast networks at least enough to see what kind of graphics packages they are serving up. I've always found presidential election night coverage captivating, regardless of the candidates or my assessment of the stakes.
NBC is my favorite network news to begin with, and in recent elections they've supplemented the traditional studio electoral map with one on the Rockefeller Center skating rink. Workers are sent out to paint it in by hand as results are forecast state by state, with bars projected for both candidates running up 30 Rock towards a goal of 270 electoral votes. It's super-cheesy but I find it wildly compelling. It's actually really clever in that it gives the TV producers a lot of different ways to televise the simple action of coloring in a state outline. My favorite shot is when the painters start walking across the ice to fill in a state that has just been called. Everyone in the gathered crowd at Rockefeller Center is focused on the contest and is screaming their heads off, and these guys just need to get in, do their job, and get out as unobtrusively as possible. They remind me of the medics running out with stretchers after every catastrophe during the chariot race in Ben-Hur. This year more so than ever, I guess. I intend to watch from 7:00 to 11:00 EST but will have trouble staying up later than that no matter what drama is going on. I'm actually in a weird state of feeling good about things right now. Maybe they slipped something into my water? I feel like Election Day is the eye of the storm and will try to spend the time mentally regrouping before the other wall hits us. Traditional network Election Day coverage will be a nice return to normalcy, however brief. It's certainly not a sure thing, but I think Clinton will win handily in the electoral race. And I actually like Hillary so I'm one of those rare birds who doesn't have to hold their nose when they vote tomorrow. Well, except in my senate race. I expect the presidential race and control of the House to be called before I go to bed. I might need to wait to find out control of the Senate until the next day (hopefully not dragging on beyond that). If Clinton wins and the Dems take control of the Senate (could go either way) I can start being hopeful for this country again, even with the Republican House already boasting of preventing anything positive from happening over the next four years. |

I won't. I've been watching it for over a year now and I've had all I can stands, and I can't stands no more. I'll pick up my newspaper Wednesday morning and whimper a little before I peek at the headline.

As a side note, I describe myself as center-left and when Toomey was elected I thought he'd be a Santorum-caliber embarrassment to Pennsylvania, and to my surprise he's actually been a better-than-average Republican senator in my eyes (although this is damning with faint praise). So thanks @Toomey for not being a huge embarrassment; sorry I'm voting against you in favor of a different sort of huge embarrassment. |

I'm doing the exact same thing (voting Dem except for a few local races, where the Repubs in question are people I actually know and trust) and feel more or less exactly the same way. Here, have a swig of cough medicine. It'll take some of the ouch away.

But Hillary Clinton has been my candidate from the moment she announced her candidacy and one way or another, I'll be seeing this through to the end. |
