I’m having fun watching mine grow, it hasn’t been this length since 1976. One last hurrah before the grey takes over, something fun had to come out of our lockdowns when my usual short cuts just weren’t possible. I’ll no doubt get sick of it and have it all chopped off with no warning.

What's depressing is there isn't any more brown among the grey that ends up on the floor.

ok, so what with slight improvement in monthly bills vs. income, and an announced refund via the state for car insurance, I felt it ok to do another Enzo/Snookie item this year. especially since I found one for relatively cheap (about $200 expenditure, less than half of the expected refund). and most especially since I had a scathingly brilliant idea.

In the past, I've on occasion repeated a prior item - there are, for example 3 different chip clips (the final one says "you can never have too many chip clips"- but I've never ever, ever done two in a row.

Until now. A month ago or so, we were chatting w/a former favorite server (at a different restaurant than where we met her) about the items and she said she didn't have last years item, a can cozy w/his face saying "My drink is cold". and while we were chatting about it, I realized that I'd missed a golden opportunity, and said it, in front of Snookie, so he knows about it. and they arrived today.

Drink sleeves (similar to can cozy, but w/o the bottom part, think of the cardboard thing that fancy coffees to go come with), bright BRIGHT orange, w/his face, captioned:

"my emotional support beverage".

I've already handed about a dozen out here at the home, and Snookie has one on his beer can even as I type this.

Splork, you improve with age!

I am having trouble picturing it though, a thinner band like on keep cups etc or a wider, near full can thing?

it's about 3.5 in 'tall' and wide enough to go around a beer can or coffee to go cup (not a mug)

Pączki have the funny line off of the "a". They are Polish.

Jelly Donuts don't have the funny line off of the "a". In fact, they don't even have an "a" on closer inspection. They are from Berlin which is in Germany.

regular filled doughnuts are a different recipe. the others are done only before Lent, to use up the butter etc, so they're richer tasting, they also have typically different fillings - both often have strawberry, lemon, cream or raspberry fillings, but regular doughnuts don't often have prune, cheese, blueberry or cherry.

I am wearing a pair of jeans that I bought in December. They are freshly washed and dried so at their tightest as of 8AM this morning. I can officially say that these jeans are baggy. Yes, they fit two months ago and they are too big. So take that, Christmas pies and candy I didn't eat. Up yours, cold blustery days that I went to aqua fit in their so-called heated pool. Pound sand, daily free cookies at work that I haven't touched since Halloween. It's been worth every kale salad and intermittent fasting period where I want to eat wallpaper, but just go to bed instead.

Let me put it this way: the last time this 60 year old ass wore a pair of pants in a size that started with a 1? So did my age.

I just picked up my new glasses. How long do you think it'll take for someone to notice?

I don't really expect my neighbors to notice. We mostly just wave at each other while shoveling out our cars these days, when we even go outside. I'll be seeing my sister Friday or Saturday, though.

Star Wars was on TNT today! Not those crappy sequels (which are NOT CANON, I don't care what anyone says, the Expanded Universe is!), but the original trilogy*!

*The prequels were okay. I didn't hate them like a lot of people did, the casting was decent, and the music was awesome. But I absolutely loathed the sequels. Darth Caedus > Kylo Ren. (Fuck yeah, I'm a nerd. You got a problem with that?)

An employee came in yesterday even though she was very sick. I was in the same room as her for a few seconds before I ran out. She got sent home, duh.

This morning I learned that she is in the hospital on IV fluids.

How does all this fit with "January Joys"?

Turns out she was diagnosed with the flu.

::whew:: kayaker

we have 2 kitties, both of whom bring us joy, in different ways. Our black kitty is very smart, clever, pretty, silky. Our yellow kitty is... well, she's not very smart, she's scruffy, and a complete goofball.

once again she did one of the things that really showcase how not very smart she is. We leave our bathroom door open (as I suppose most people do), but the door is in a corner of the apt, so when the door is open, it leads to... the corner of the hall. Yellow kitty will from time to time (as she did a few minutes ago) go behind the door, find herself in a dead end.

she then panics. 'cause "how will I EVER get out of here??????" "I might STARVE!!!! To DEATH even!!!!!" and cries and cries and cries and cries. When we call out to her "what's wrong, kitty?" and she turns her head and.....

EUREKA!!!! I'm SAVED!!!!!!

bless her little heart. we have to keep her, she'd starve to death if she was in a room with a dozen open bags of food but none in a dish.

wring, I once had a sweet kitty that was dumb as a box of rocks. she used to dig a hole in the litter box, stand in it and poop on the hill behind her. then her poop would roll down the hill and hit her in the legs and scare her.

my other cat would sit and watch this kind of thing but made no remark.

someone should work up the energy to start a FEBRUARY minraves thread.
